Then the Lord went to Gadhada, and there called the sadhus, with great affection in his heart, to give them the joy of solitude.
The wise sadhus who understood, who were foremost in the satsang, were called to give them darshan and make them happy.
The crown-jewel sadhus came, where beautiful Shyam was; touching Nath's feet, they became fulfilled.
Then Muktanandji asked the Lord a question: 'Nath, whatever pleases you, tell us and we shall do that practice.'
Then the Lord spoke: 'Listen, all of you.
When one attains the Lord, then all practices are fulfilled.' 'Then I will tell you what is to be done: to worship the guru and the sadhu, for Shri Hari is indeed present in them directly.
Consciousness is not all one — senses, mind, soul, and Ishwar (the individual controller) are each greater than the last, and beyond them all is the Supreme God.
Sadhu and non-sadhu are not the same; this discerning wisdom must be held.
Whatever extraordinary divine play I have performed, it must be remembered again and again.
At the time of my devotee's death, I must certainly come; this reputation of mine does not change — make this known to everyone.
Whoever remains in satsang, becoming the servant of my servants, I shall consider their devotion good and delight in their company.
My abode, my form — these are truly real, without qualities.
Whoever considers them unreal is no atheist of mine.
Whatever I will, the unreal becomes real — my name is truly all-capable.
By my glance the universe arises at the appointed time, maya taking many forms.
I remain manifest in the satsang in a beautiful way, and I also take incarnation on earth in the houses of kings, yogis, and Brahmins.
This much you should know, the words I have told you; remain without doubt, said Nath, and hearing it the people became delighted.
Then, to feed the people, food was prepared in many ways.
Fine seats were laid, and the sadhus were seated upon them.
He himself was resplendent in a fine waistband, with a many-colored cord hanging, a beautifully pleated and lovely lower garment shining in fine colors.
Rice cooked with milk and diluted with sweetness, ghee and much sugar; fried snacks, vadis, pakoras, puris — dishes of every variety.
White rice soaked in milk, and delicious rotlis — the devotees ate as Jivan fed them, filling the plates again and again.
Pickles of mango and lemon, and much fresh ginger — Nath gave with his own hand, and the devotees ate holding nothing back.
Having eaten fully, all the devotees became satisfied.
Then milk and sugar were brought in a second course to give.
Whether they wanted it or not, it was given by force, Hari serving with his own hand.
Even as they said no and hid their vessels, he poured it over their heads.
Having force-fed them and given them garlands, water for rinsing was then offered.
Cloves, betel nut, and cardamom were given as a pleasing mouth-freshener.
He gave such great happiness, the wish of Jivan's own heart evident.
He performed such boundless divine play — I have told of just one day.
To play the raas, with joy in the heart, they wore fine and beautiful garments.
Turbans wound elegantly, very lovely, adorned with many tassels.
They whirled around, spraying color, throwing much gulal.
Then, on the next day, the devotees performed the worship of Jivan.
Anointing him with sandalwood, they dressed Bhagwan with fine garlands.
Incense and lamps and arti — the devotees came to perform them.
Having worshipped, they touched his feet, and pressed the mark of his feet to their chests.
Sitting facing dark Shyam, the Beloved gave them happiness.
Laughing, playing, eating well, the days passed beautifully.
Some days passed thus, then Kapila Shashthi (the sixth day) arrived.
Then Bhagwan appeared manifestly and gave darshan to his devotees.
Seeing him the people became delighted with the Immortal, Beloved One.
Devotees came from land after land, and were given darshan; whoever gazed upon him with their eyes had their sins cut away.
They wore fine, beautiful garments of saffron color, with rings, bangles, bracelets studded with jewels.
Girding his waist and smiling, that form dwelt in the minds of the people.
Even in the meditation of great sages he does not come, of whom the Shrutis say 'neti neti.'
That Hari, out of compassion, gave darshan again and again — the person who saw Jivan, how shall I speak of their fortune?
Then Bhagwan set out to bathe in the river with Nathji.
Singing beautifully as they bathed, all the companions were with him.
Having bathed, Nath came back and the devotees prepared his favorite food.
Immediately fresh food, ready and prepared, was served to Jivan on his return.
Then the devotees were fed, seated in a row, served by his own hand.
Food of many kinds and vessels — seeing it, the devotees' hearts rejoiced.
They were fed forcefully, as Bhagwan does when feeding; however much was given, they could not finish it — even the companions were careful.
Then in the evening a chant was made, and Hari sat upon his couch.
Giving the sadhus permission, songs of Halisa were then sung.
Singing and talking, the night passed, giving beautiful happiness in abundance.
In this skillful way the devotees were fed, holding nothing back in any way.
Thus a fine gathering was made, on the sixth day of the dark half of Bhadarva.
That day divine play was performed at Gadhada; I have told this story with the essence of nectar.
Thus, in the Bhaktachintamani composed by Nishkulanand Muni, disciple of Shri Sahajanand Swami, propagator of the glorious Ekantik Dharma, in the account of Shri Hari — the chapter on 'the Kapila Shashthi festival' — the sixty-eighth chapter.
