He stayed at Gadhada for the four months of the rainy season (Chaturmas), then the Immortal One spoke thus: 'Some give wealth of grain, some give land, water, and clothing.
Some give elephants, horses, and cows, and other gifts of many kinds are spoken of.
Among all gifts, seek out together which one is the greatest.'
Then the wise sadhus spoke: 'Listen, our Lord of life.
The gift of fearlessness (abhaydan) is the greatest of all; nothing else equals it.
That gift can be given by you; whoever sees you becomes fearless.'
Hearing the sadhus' words, the Beloved said: 'Let us go to Gujarat.'
Then the Kathi warriors made their steeds ready, saddling horses bought at great cost.
Traveling on, they came into Gujarat, and called the sadhus at Karjisan.
He stayed there two days, then the Beloved came to Vadugam.
Nath encamped outside the town, with all the sadhus along with him.
Questions and answers were exchanged, each speaking as their nature was.
Then beautiful Shyam set out and came to Olesh-Aadraj village.
There he held an Annakot festival, and having given happiness, Hari set out from there.
A devotee lived in Kolvada; he encamped under a banyan tree in that village.
He ate at his home, going there, and gave the sadhus sweets with his own hand.
Performing divine play, delighting the people's minds, the Beloved then came to Unav.
There a fine devotee, Ramdas, lived; the Immortal One went to his home.
Countless men and women rejoiced, becoming pleased at seeing Nathji.
Incense and lamps offered in arti, they fed the Lord of life skillfully.
Preparing food in many other ways as well, Nath ate, along with the sadhus, from his own hand.
The devotees ate amid cries of victory; staying the night there, Moraar set out.
There is a village named Nadari, where he himself, Hari, arrived.
There a fine meal was prepared, and he ate with his companions.
From there people came to Maharaj, many people came for darshan.
All the people's minds were pleased, and the king too came in welcome procession.
Bhagwan encamped at the edge of town, and all men and women came for darshan.
His beautiful form pleased everyone, and with love they placed garlands of flowers on him.
Giving darshan, the friend of the humble, a meal was prepared there.
Jivan ate with his companions, then Nath set out from there.
Along the way came many villages, and the people had darshan there.
Then the Beloved came to Vihar, staying the night there, Moraar.
The Beloved showed the meaning of the Vedas, resolving doubts about violence and non-violence.
Then Shyam set out from there and came to Giridhar's village by way of Gerita.
There lived a devotee, a Bhavsar (dyer) by caste, exceedingly pure of heart and generous.
He prepared pure sweets, and gave them to the sadhus upon their arrival.
The support of the world ate a little there, then mounted his horse.
From there Nath came to Bamanva, where a meal was cooked with his own hand.
He fed the sadhus along with his companions, then Bhagwan himself ate.
Staying the night, Nath set out from there, riding so fast the horses could not be held back.
Toward evening he came to Vadnagar, where the governor, with devotion, brought a welcome procession.
Amid the playing of instruments he entered the village, and men and women had darshan.
Young, youthful, and elderly all became fulfilled, seeing him.
He walked through the middle of the city, the bringer of happiness, to give everyone darshan.
He came and encamped by the edge of a lake, where a delicious meal was prepared.
There Bhagwan ate with devotion, then fed all the sadhus.
Nath stayed the night there, then Shyam set out with his companions.
From there he came to Visnagar, where all the people gathered in welcome.
Singing and talking, he was brought to a home, where fine service was rendered.
Many devotees were given darshan, and seeing him they made their eyes fruitful.
Then he went to a devotee's home, where a meal was prepared with love.
Then all the sadhus were called, and he himself served them sweets with love.
Then he walked through the whole city, fulfilling many souls.
Then he went to a temple of Shiva, giving darshan, the ocean of happiness.
Great ones came and joined their hands: 'We are indeed your devotees.'
All understood in their minds that without the Master there is happiness nowhere.
Having darshan they became pleased, joy overflowing in their hearts.
Then the Beloved set out from there, giving darshan, the charming, playful one.
Along the way came a lake, in which the enchanting one bathed.
Then dark Shyam made himself ready, and came to Giridhari's village of Vasai.
He himself ate and fed the devotees, then the Immortal One set out from there.
In Meu lived a devotee, a Bhavsar named Bhushan, of great love.
To his home the Nath came, with all the sadhus along with Hari.
With great love he came forward, performed worship, and brought him to his home.
A fine meal was prepared, and with great love the compassionate one was fed.
Malpuas were made for the sadhus, given to be served by Hari's own hand.
As much as the sadhus ate, so much more was Bhushan pleased.
Shyam shone finely among the sadhus, and many people came for darshan there.
Giving the joy of the gift of darshan, Nath then came to Langhanoj.
There, seeing the devotees' love, he ate a meal at their home.
From there the compassionate one came to Dangarva, with the whole assembly of sages along.
Thus he wandered through the satsang, making many souls blessed.
Whatever village came along the way, he accomplished the devotees' work there.
He came this time to Adalaj, staying the night, then came to Motera.
Nath bathed in the Sabarmati, and all his companions bathed with Hari.
Then Shyam came to Shrinagar (Ahmedabad), staying the night there.
From there he went to Jetalpur, increasing the joy in people's minds.
He stayed there a while, the compassionate one, then the friend of the humble set out.
Along the way, at dusk, thieves appeared, and Bhagwan came to Vairat.
There he gave the sadhus his parting instruction, giving permission to go to Piplee.
There lived a devotee, Dadobhai, who wished in his mind to hold a festival. 'Keep it prepared until then; I have told him we shall come.
We cannot go there ourselves now; tell him to remain pleased in his mind.'
Saying this, Nath set out, taking his Sankhyayogi companions along.
As Hari moved on, the devotees grieved, their hearts filled with great affection.
He himself went to Gadhada, Maharaj, having accomplished the work of many souls.
Whoever he gave darshan and touch to did not fall into the realm of death.
Thus he came giving the gift of fearlessness, than which there is no other equal gift.
Such a great benefit he performed, in which many souls were redeemed.
He purified the devotees through darshan, on the second day of the dark half of Kartik.
That day, having wandered again through Gujarat, he performed this divine play, whose account I have told.
Thus, in the Bhaktachintamani composed by Nishkulanand Muni, disciple of Shri Sahajanand Swami, propagator of the glorious Ekantik Dharma, in the account of Shri Narayan — the chapter on 'the Annakot festival held at Aadraj' — the eighty-third chapter.
