Then he gave the sadhus his leave: "Go now, all of you together, to wander.

When we summon you, come back again.

Do not come without being called, and do not disregard our word — if you hold love for Hari, never forget his form, day or night.

We are not pleased with anyone who comes without permission; we are greatly pleased with one who acts according to our word.

The moon, the sun, Shesha, the ocean, water, earth, fire, and wind all abide by our word out of respect in their hearts; Shiva and Brahma never forget it, the guardians of the directions fear our word, the gods, demons, Indra, and Amba, even Death itself, trembles at our word.

All of them know that they became great through our word.

Do you understand these words of ours today, or not?

If you understand these words of ours, then all of you, being wise, should keep them; if this cannot be accepted in your heart, then how can you have accepted your own liberation?

So, being wise as you all are, and having heard much already, do not ever forget these words of mine, small or great."

Having said this much, Hari then gave his blessing to the sadhus; gathering together joyfully, he sent the virtuous ones on their way.

Seeing the Master, their hearts rejoiced, and they carried his words within them; taking that happiness, they went off joyfully to lands far and near.

Wherever he had given them leave to go, the sadhus went there, and Giridharji, seeing the devotion of his people, stayed on at Gadhada.

Nath said to the whole assembly: "The sadhus who are with us today — I have examined every part of them, and there is no deficiency in any way.

Knowledge, devotion, renunciation, and austerity are all embodied in them; complete in the practices of self-control and the rest, there is not a trace of fault in them."

Again and again the Beloved sang the praises of the sadhus in this way.

After some days passed, the days of spring arrived, and the festival of Vasant Panchami was celebrated joyfully; devotees were called from all around, and the sadhus all gathered together.

They sang songs of praise there, and thus spring passed amid joy and celebration.

Then Holi (Hutashani) arrived, and there the devotees of Hari mixed colors; pots of saffron water were poured over the Beloved.

A shower of color fell there, and gulal flew abundantly; a fine game was played there between Hari and his devotees.

Then Nath with his own hands colored all the sadhus, and, mingling together joyfully, he gave endless happiness.

Having played Holi in this way, they then bathed in the water; the dark-hued one, with his companions, shone in his body.

Then, after a fine meal was prepared, the people fed Nath, and having eaten, the dark-hued one fed his companions as well.

Thus the Beloved performed these pastimes on the full-moon day of the bright half of Fagun, an unplanned festival held by Shrijivan for the sake of his people.

What is there to say of just one festival — festivals happen there day after day; men and women, keeping their vows, sing the virtues of Govind.

The assembly of sadhus feasts daily, which pleases him greatly in his heart; the generous-hearted devotees Jaya and Lalita make it possible.

So close to Shyam always, a year passes like a moment; the days pass in joy, day and night, and no one is aware of it.

Then the beautiful month of Shravan brought Janmashtami.

The devotees of Hari said, "Let us call the sadhus — nothing should be lacking."

Then Nathji said, "All the sadhus who are in distant lands — those who are nearby already come all the time."

So those distant ones were then summoned, to hold the festival in joy; the dark-hued one, with his companions, was glad to play among the multitude of devotees.

The wicked plotted to bring calamity, and demons gathered together and came on the day of the festival.

Recognizing their intent, Hari spoke of it: "Let us go from here — they will go back again, having accomplished nothing."

Then Hari and his devotees, Prabhuji himself, departed; the demons achieved nothing, and they went back just as they had come.

Having averted this danger, the Beloved came, and then he called all the sadhus together and held the Annakut festival there.

Then, having given instruction to the sadhus, he sent out invitation letters for the installation of Lord Nar-Narayan Dev: "All you satsangis, gather together and come to Shrinagar ; there install the image of Lord Nar-Narayan.

We too will come there — know this for certain.

Prepare a fine festival, and hold this conviction firmly in your heart."

Then the Beloved came, on the tenth day of the dark half of Maha, and Prabhuji arrived at the city of Jetalpur.

He gave darshan to his devotees, and the devotees of Hari beheld Shrihari; the satsangis became joyful, filling their eyes with the sight of Nath.

The next day Shyam went on to Shrinagar; having seen the site for lodging, he came back again to Jetalpur.

A devout devotee lived in the village of Asalali; he was invited there, and the whole company ate a meal at his house.

Lodgings were arranged at Kankaria, and devotees from every land arrived — bringing chariots, carts, palanquins, camels, horses, and wagons.

Children, young people, and elders — many people gathered there; none recognized any other, so many devotees had come from so many lands.

The Beloved sat on a high seat and gave darshan to the devotees; all the sadhus sat facing him, gazing on him and receiving happiness.

The king of the city, greatly pleased, came before the Lord; the next day Prabhuji himself went to him, was given a seat with great affection, and was worshipped with love.

Then whatever he was asked, Hari gave the answer.

The king, greatly pleased, then bowed at Prabhu's feet; having accomplished this task for him, Shyam returned to the assembly.

The next day the image was installed: Lord Nar-Narayan took his place in the temple, both forms of Badripati seated together.

Many people came there to behold the divine heroes, and by having darshan of the merciful ones they attained lasting happiness.

It was a beautiful and auspicious month, the third day of the bright half of Fagun — on that day the installation took place, the Beloved having come from Vishalavan .

The difficult mountain passes there, which none can cross, became easy, seeing the love of the devotees of Hari.

Great is the fortune of that land where the Master himself came, for men and women without their Lord suffer greatly.

Then the arti was offered: "Nath, keep your gracious gaze upon us."

The next day he made a circuit of the city.

Having accomplished this much, the dark-hued one departed, riding a costly horse, and went and stayed at Jetalpur.

From there he departed for the region of Panchal, and having accomplished this much, Gopal came to Gadhada.

Hari has performed infinite pastimes, and will perform infinite pastimes still — what poet is there who could say where they begin or end?

Shesha, Mahesh, and Sharada, though singing his praises always, can only say "not this, not this" — the scriptures themselves cannot fully describe him; who else could say it?

Gandharvas, sage Narada, and Ganapati sing his praises greatly, straining with all their strength to speak of him, yet how can it be told as it truly is?

So, reflecting in my mind, I know his virtues are boundless; a poet may speak and speak of them, yet is bound to fall short in the end.

Count the specks of dust, the drops of water, the leaves of the forest, the hairs on every body, the raindrops of the clouds — a poet might gather and count all of these together, and even reach some end of them; but who can fully recount the virtues of Hari?
