- માયા એટલે પ્રકૃતિના ત્રણ ગુણઃ સત્ત્વ, રજસ્ અને તમસ્ માંહેનો પહેલો ગુણ; સાત્ત્વિક ગુણ. તેથી મા, દયા, સત્ય, નીતિ વગેરેની વૃદ્ધિ થાય છે. પ્રીતિ એ સત્ત્વગુણનો ધર્મ છે. બીજા પણ ઘણા ધર્મો છે, જેમકે, પ્રસન્નતા, લઘુતા, સહિષ્ણુતા અને સંતોષ વગેરે. | ( વેદાંત ) સુખરૂપ કાર્યનું કારણ એવો જ્ઞાનાત્મક ગુણ.
