Huh?
Service
Service provider
Provider
We call them providers.
We call ourselves providers of service to Maharaj.
Maharaj is our customer.
Have you ever asked if the customer is happy or not?
You should ask the customer what their need is.
What is the need right now?
God is the customer for us.
For them, the customer is God.
For us, God is the customer.
Ask him morning and evening, what is your need?
What makes you happy?
Then it will be clear.
In this way, to worship God in nine ways is called bhakti.
Upasana is said to be that in which one's faith in the sagun form of God never wavers.
Even if one listens to scriptures that expound on the formless (nirakar) aspect, one always understands God's form to be sagun (with form).
No matter what is said in the scriptures, one always expounds on the sagun form of God.
In this way, one who has firm understanding,
You do kirtan or Vachanamrut or all this literature, these devotees make it firm.
So until when do you do it?
Until what time?
Huh?
Until when do you do it?
Until they are new.
Until you become a mahant.
What did Maharaj say?
Even if one becomes brahmarup, it is true.
Even if one reaches the pinnacle of it, the desire for more remains.
That I will do more and please more.
Our ninety-two stops.
So it's not like that.
So there is no nirvikalpta (freedom from doubt).
Savikalpta (with doubt).
Now we have done a lot.
It became ten.
All that.
When we first came, we would do the smallest service.
And desire happens.
But after becoming a mahant, does such a desire arise? We don't want to do it, we don't want to get it done.
You hire a servant.
Keep one and a half instead of one, don't keep two.
We have some position, after all.
So keep it.
But desire arises.
If there is a desire, then upasana comes.
Whether that person can do it or not, due to circumstances, that's a different matter.
But if the desire arises, then upasana comes to him in that.
It is said that even after becoming brahmarup, he still desires to serve.
I will serve some small devotee.
That is his desire.
After becoming brahmarup, the desire to serve Maharaj arises, but also the desire to serve someone who is a devotee of God.
If one becomes brahmarup, does the desire to serve disappear or does it remain?
Huh?
One who becomes brahmarup does not lose it.
If one becomes a mahant, then it disappears.
Or if he becomes big, then it disappears for him.
How do you feel?
Coming from Gyanbag to Mumbai, it's very high up on the hill.
That greed does not go away.
Maharaj said that, so he called it upasana.
Difference.
What is the difference between bhakti and upasana?
It comes in the Vachanamrut.
The other thing is different.
Maharaj said that performing the nine types of devotion like shravanam, kirtanam, vishnu smaranam, pada sevanam is called bhakti.
And what is upasana called?
Of the servant's attitude.
So it means that in any circumstances, the feeling of being a servant should not go away.
In any circumstances, the feeling of being a servant should not go away.
If ten people are serving us.
Ambrish Raja had it that way.
That the whole army was in service.
So what does Ambrish Raja desire?
Huh?
That I serve God.
If you do mine, he has no problem.
But I will serve God, you have no part in it.
We will do the service you have to do, no problem, so what?
We will do the service you have to do.
They were kings, weren't they?
Not like that.
You do as much as you can, serve me according to your duty.
But I will serve God.
Then that is called upasana.
So, those who have become Brahmarup, it happens to them.
But it doesn't happen to those who become kings.
And after becoming a king, if it happens, then that is a desire.
Then it is nirvikap upasana.
Here, upasana is nirvikap.
Then that is upasana.
So, all those who have become Brahmarup are kings, aren't they?
That is the pinnacle of becoming great.
Having gone to Akshardham, they became Brahmarup and went to Akshardham.
So now they have no shortcomings in any matter.
So, if there is a flaw, they serve God, and if there is no flaw, then?
Then they do more, like that.
That is called upasana.
This is a very small difference.
Small difference.
It is very difficult to recognize it.
That we achieved something, and then we don't do it after that.
A big achievement has been made, that perhaps we become greater than that.
No one can become greater than God.
But they became greater than God.
So?
It is written in the discourses of Gunatitanand Swami.
That we become radiant and God is seen.
If it's dark and we come, there's lighting, and if God comes, it becomes dark.
Then how can we remain?
Then in our mind, we think that I should dedicate all the lighting to his service.
He doesn't have it, does he?
Does it happen that then some doubt arises that now he is seen by my lighting, so then what is the point of serving him?
When Garudji came, all those serpents of Lord Ramchandra ran away.
So Garudji had a doubt, 'Oh!'
If I can release this, then how can he make me release it?
Like that.
They come walking with my support.
They come walking with my support.
Then what support will he give me?
This is very intricate.
It's a knot in the mind.
So that is called upasana.
That is upasana.
If there is no desire to serve this, but it has to be done.
Then it is not called upasana.
If the cook for our halwa has left, then we have to do it.
Then is that called upasana or not?
If you have to serve with a flaw, then there is no problem.
So that is called that much capacity, that is called a category.
They came in that category, like that.
But they should have the desire.
They should have the desire.
It's not just that the desire should arise; if a chance comes, it should be seized.
So that shows our attachment to Maharaj.
It shows attachment to Maharaj.
If it comes, there's no problem.
Then it is called humility.
Then it is not called upasana.
If it comes, there's no problem.
We might have had to do it, maybe someone left.
Sometimes, if our brother is not a sevak, we fill the water pot and come back.
Both would fill it; that's how the work was going on there.
Whoever comes early fills for both.
So, if there is a sevak, there is no problem.
Then that is not upasana.
That is called humility.
No problem, it will work. It's not like only a sevak is needed.
But if it is there, then do it.
If it is there, then do it, then a little desire arose in him.
The desire should remain.
And it should be intense, there should be a burning desire, then it is.
Of service to God.
No matter how great he becomes, what did Maharaj say in this?
That one who has attained Akshardham.
Even then, the faith in the form of God does not go away, meaning the feeling of being a servant does not go away.
If the feeling of being a servant does not go away, then one must serve.
But the desire to serve that need, Maharaj, what did he say in this? That no matter how many scriptures one listens to.
But his faith does not waver, so no matter what situation arises, if the name of service is mentioned, he gets up.
Maharaj said that.
The same thing is said in the 29th Vachanamrut.
He might have come after doing something, tired, exhausted by illness, or exhausted by worldly affairs.
But if an opportunity arises, he gets up as if nothing happened.
So that is called upasana.
That is called upasana.
One whose mind is extremely attached to God, it means that he has reached the level of upasana.
If one's mind is extremely attached to God, to the form of God, then what are his characteristics?
Yes.
Even if Krishnapriya Swami narrates the story of Gunatitanand Swami, you know that they walked there.
They might be tired.
Huh.
Yes.
No, not that.
Atmanand, Atmanand Swami.
Yes.
Atmanand Swami, yes, then Swami brought a pot from Kumbhari's place, bathed him with hot water, then begged for alms, and sang kirtans in the assembly.
And all those people would just pile up, tired, he was already tired, it wasn't like anyone's intention was wrong or anything.
But this is a characteristic, no matter how tired he is when he comes, if he gets a chance, he gets up.
So, there is such a strong desire for service, for Maharaj's service.
For Maharaj's work, for Maharaj's mission.
If there is all that longing, then it is called upasana.
That longing does not break in any circumstances.
No one can make it dim.
Then it is called upasana.
Scripture.
Maharaj said in this, upasana.
Maharaj said upasana.
There's nothing like that.
There is a desire.
The elders should refuse the service of the younger ones.
So you are saying that.
That is a kind of transaction.
And if he serves, and it is the service of Thakorji, then it is a different matter.
If elders are served by younger people, it is not considered a breach of upasana.
But if the service of Thakorji is taken from his hands, then that upasana is considered to have gone down a bit.
What do you mean?
What is his question?
We don't need to do anything like that.
But it's not like doing toilets and bathrooms.
If there is a small service to be done and there is no one to do it, no one there to do it.
Then if we stop, that is what is said.
This is not something I have a lot of, and every day, instead of you cleaning the toilets and bathrooms, there are many other big tasks that Maharaj would be pleased with.
So a small person would say that.
But if it's lying there and there's no one to do it, then you might think, 'Let's call someone else.'
Let's call that person.
And if you have time.
Still, there is a desire to do it.
If we have time, and those people haven't come, and the work is stopped without them, then we shouldn't think, 'Oh, I can't do this.'
We will do it.
There should always be an intense desire that I get some service.
It's not necessary to get it by butting heads with someone.
And there are many services already available.
There is a lot of service available.
And in this, what has Maharaj said about what upasana is called?
It is about after becoming Brahmarup.
That one thing, we have a demand, a need, a necessity.
And I do it, and even if I don't have a need, I still do it.
That's the point.
One who has become Brahmarup, all his needs are fulfilled.
The need has been fulfilled.
Then what need does he have to perform spiritual practices for God?
He serves God.
What is there to do? Serving God is a means.
It is said to be one of the nine forms of devotion.
What is the need to make it a means?
Even if he doesn't need it, it is his wish.
The self-realized sages, even though free from all attachments, perform unmotivated devotion to the Lord, whose qualities are thus described.
That
Thus are the qualities of Hari.
Speak
Lord Badarayana, whose mind was captivated by the qualities of Hari.
He attained the great narration, which is always dear to the devotees of Vishnu.
Now, what does that mean?
Lord Badarayani, whose mind was captivated by the qualities of Hari, attained the great narration, which is always dear to the devotees of Vishnu.
So tell me, what does that mean?
Sukadevji had qualities like God.
It is written, 'Lord Badarayani'.
He had qualities like God.
Even then,
He attained the great narration.
And why did he do that?
Dear to Vishnu's devotees.
Always dear to Vishnu's devotees.
So that the devotee of God may benefit, or I may get his satsang.
That is why that discourse happens.
It wasn't that he was doing it because he was incomplete.
He has the qualities of Hari.
The talk of God is such, and the worship of God is such, that it should uproot the soul.
The soul should be awakened.
If he doesn't feel the longing, it's not called upasana; until then, it's called bhakti.
It's called devotion.
If we do it according to routine, or if we don't do it according to routine, it's called devotion.
If upasana has come, then he should tremble.
His soul within him should tremble.
Why am I not getting it? It is said.
And why am I falling behind in serving Maharaj?
His soul should tremble like that.
Only then is it upasana.
There is no other difference between upasana and bhakti.
There is no need to change the platform.
There is a need to change within.
When his inner feeling changes, that very thing becomes upasana.
His thing becomes upasana.
There is another third shloka of Sukadevji, which is very good, I keep forgetting it.
Gunatitanand Swami has made all the lines.
He attained, even though he was detached and without qualities.
He, even though detached and without qualities, took the excellent verses, and will show the captivated mind.
The narration is given.
The narration is given.
He will show the captivated mind.
What does 'grihit cheta' mean?
Someone has dragged Sukadevji.
Captivated mind.
Meaning, his desire is so strong that he cannot suppress it.
And that thing is his upasana.
That upasana.
If we cannot live without service, then we have upasana of Maharaj.
If we cannot live without doing something for Maharaj, then it is our upasana.
Someone pushes us and we do something.
Then that is just a transaction.
It's called a transaction.
You hold something in your hand, Vivek Bindra has said it very well.
Responsibility cannot be imposed on someone.
It is said in the narration of Hanumanji.
You have heard the narration of Hanumanji, haven't you?
To Hanumanji
Responsibility is taken.
Bring it, I'll take it.
If we impose something like this on someone, what will he do for us?
What can he do?
Responsibility can become upasana if we have grasped it firmly.
That yes, this is right, Maharaj will be pleased by this.
Bring it, I'll do it.
So Maharaj said that.
That in his ashram, he doesn't have to do it, yet he does it, that is his devotion.
And that is his upasana.
Those who are in the form of Brahman have no need, yet they do it, and that is their upasana.
There is a need, and I should do it.
Then it's down.
The cause is not right.
I have no cause.
Unmotivated devotion.
What does 'ahetukim' mean?
They perform unmotivated devotion.
What does that mean?
There is no other purpose.
If he doesn't do it, he has no loss.
It was not like he would go to Dham.
And if he doesn't, there's no loss.
So, this is, this is, why did you say Bhaktim Kuruven?
What do you say?
Even after becoming Brahmarup, if he serves, then he doesn't get the attainment through means, but he still serves.
No, no, it's not like that.
While serving, he becomes Brahmarup.
I understand, he becomes Brahmarup by serving, and even after becoming Brahmarup, he serves.
Then he clung to the means and not to God.
Whose service is it?
If one wants to cling to God, should one cling by embracing or by serving?
Huh?
We are attached to God.
So either he grabbed God's leg and didn't let go.
So, is it clinging to God, or is it clinging to God when his service never disconnects?
Huh?
What does it mean to cling to God? What does it mean to be connected to God?
What does it mean to be connected to God?
You two are connected, so you say, 'Let's go holding hands,' that means you're connected.
What is the connection with God?
Service.
So, it shows his connection.
That after becoming Brahmarup, he has not disconnected.
He serves God.
Service is a means, and service is also an end.
To do it after becoming Brahmarup is the goal.
What is the fruit of service?
What is the fruit of service?
What is the fruit of true service?
Service.
Service.
The fruit of service is more service.
And quality service.
What is the fruit of service? We served now, God was pleased with us, strength came into our soul, so what should we do next?
He does quality service.
One should serve by doing something better than that.
It's not like you should stop serving.
But it should be done in a better form than what was being done.
Whatever is lacking, it should be completed and then done.
The fruit of service is service.
The service of God, that's why the talk is about
Now, if he goes to God's abode and does nothing, and sits there like a stump in God's abode.
Then there is no problem.
But what is the problem?
It's not called upasana.
It's not called upasana, it's called Brahmarup.
If he gets up and goes to Dham and serves God somewhere, then that is called upasana.
The meaning of the sentiment of Sakar is like that.
He believes in Sakar, even after going to Dham, even during the time of dissolution, so his service continues.
If God is not Sakar, then
Whose service does he do?
He has no demand.
