The duties of a self-surrendered devotee have been stated by God Himself.
Those who wish to perform devotion to Me should have faith in My immortal discourses.
Continuously chant My virtues, divine sports, and names.
Maintain extreme devotion in My worship.
And praise Me with hymns. Maintain love in My service and worship.
Maintain love in My service and worship. Perform prostrations before Me.
Worship My devotees even more than Me.
See Me in all living beings.
Perform every activity of each limb for My sake only.
Sing My praises with your speech.
Surrender your mind to Me.
And abandon all desires.
For My sake, renounce wealth, enjoyments, and even attained happiness.
And whatever other yagnas, charities, havans, japas, vows, and austerities are performed, do all of them for My sake only.
O Uddhav, the person who observes these dharmas and surrenders himself to Me,
in his heart, My loving devotion arises.
That devotee, this description is called Bhagavata Dharma.
Lord Maharaj said in Vachanamrut, in the 21st of the Antya section, that God comes here to nourish Bhagavata Dharma.
Yada yada hi dharmasya glanirbhavati Bharata abhyutthanam adharmasya tadaatmanam srujamyaham
God said that He comes to establish dharma.
So which dharma is that?
Then Maharaj said, Bhagavata Dharma.
So what is Bhagavata Dharma?
So what is described here is called that.
To become completely devoted to God is called Bhagavata Dharma.
And God comes to this earth to propagate such a dharma.
Not just to propagate the Varnashram dharma.
O Uddhav, the person who observes these dharmas and surrenders himself to Me,
in his heart, My loving devotion arises.
So Bhagavata Dharma is the means to awaken devotion.
The rise of that devotion
This Bhagavata Dharma itself is full of devotion.
But the means to awaken that devotion means the means to awaken extraordinary devotion, the means to awaken prema-lakshana bhakti.
This is a common form of devotion, while extraordinary devotion arises.
After the rise of that devotion, what else remains for him to achieve?
O son of Kunti, whatever actions you perform, eat, offer oblations, give charity, perform austerities, that
God purifies all of them.
So, no country, no time, like the time that was mentioned, like the morning time, the Brahma muhurta, that is the best time.
But for remembering God, there is no inauspicious time; all times are auspicious.
All states are also excellent, no matter how impure the physical state may be.
Even then, there is no problem in chanting God's name.
He is the one who purifies everyone, understand it the other way around.
So, there's no need to be afraid.
That, in this impure state, should this name be uttered or not? It should be uttered.
Where is purity needed?
If we are performing some special ritual.
That, to please God, I will perform a purascharan of Janmangal.
Or I will perform a purascharan of any stotras.
Then it is necessary.
But when we are chanting God's name for remembrance, there is no concept of purity, impurity, or time.
The more you take, the more beneficial it is, in any state.
There is no rule of time or place in remembering the name of Lord Shri Hari.
Similarly, there is no prohibition against having a dirty mouth or anything else.
It is said in the Skanda Purana that one should constantly chant and remember the name of Lord Shri Hari, who holds the discus.
And it should be done everywhere, in all places.
No impurity (sutak) is incurred in that.
Because he purifies everyone.
In Hari-naam sankirtan, there is no need to consider country, time, state, or self-purity.
Shri Hari's name is independent.
And it fulfills desired resolutions.
It is said in the Brahmanda Purana that even if someone has committed great sins like Brahmahatya, but if they continue to perform Hari kirtan and bhajan day and night, they themselves become pure-hearted.
And the row becomes pure.
The entire row in which he sits becomes purified by his purity.
That is, the row becomes pure.
It is said in the Naradiya Purana that if even a single muhurta of time passes without remembering Shri Hari or chanting His name.
Then one should scream loudly, just as one would scream if robbers came to loot.
I am robbed, I am robbed.
Swami used to say this verse a lot.
Shastriji Maharaj.
If time passes without bhajan, then just as one would call the police if their property was stolen, saying "Police, police, police."
Call the police quickly, thieves have come, thieves have come, I've been robbed.
How much regret there is for that.
Similarly, if time passes without God's bhajan, if life is wasted without devotion to God.
Then one should scream like that.
Immediately dial that, "Police, police, police."
How can such glory be understood?
How can such glory be understood?
It is understood when one starts doing it.
Whoever has done it, has understood it.
It is not found anywhere in history that someone who doesn't do it can directly understand it.
Whoever starts, one day reaches such a state.
If one doesn't do it and keeps thinking, "I'll do it when I understand its glory, I'll do it when I understand its glory," then they will never understand it.
Whoever starts, reaches it, the glory comes to them day by day.
If even a single muhurta of time passes without remembering Shri Hari or chanting His name.
Then one should scream loudly, just as one would scream if robbers came to loot.
It is said in the Vishnu Purana, "O great sage."
Just now, there was a mention of Devprasad Swami, Shastriji Maharaj's guru-bhai, which Krishnapriya Swami had narrated from Taruda.
That also felt very good.
That Swami's such a limb.
These saints were like ascetics.
So, if a devotee came, they would talk and then leave. If all the devotees got engrossed in those talks, then they would take them aside. There was only one temple, so they would take them aside and make them do devotional chanting.
How much connection he must have had, that time should not be wasted anywhere.
So, the old saints had such a connection.
Time should not be wasted.
Without chanting God's name.
That is called devotion to God.
One should always be devoted to the service of Krishna with love.
Become devoted to the service of God or devoted to devotion.
That is called devotion.
If even a moment passes without remembering Shri Hari or chanting His name, one should scream as loudly as robbers scream when they come to loot.
It is said in the Vishnu Purana that
O great sage, a person who constantly remembers Lord Janardana, the Jagatguru who nourishes all living beings, destroys all sorrows.
And whatever he desires, all his tasks are successful.
It is said in Nam Kaumudi that one should constantly remember Lord Vishnu but never forget Him.
Because all the injunctions and prohibitions mentioned in the scriptures are His servants.
It is also said in the Mahabharata that among all religions, and I consider religion to be the greatest, that a human being should always worship Lord Vasudeva, the lotus-eyed one, with devotional praises in the form of chanting His virtues.
Commentary
Whatever wealth a devotee earns for the maintenance of the body, or whatever food he cooks for eating, he should not do it thinking that it is for himself.
But all that should be useful in performing the actions that are to be done to please God.
He does it in that form of his limb.
He says that by performing all actions, from earning the necessary wealth for the maintenance of the body to preparing food, understanding that they are for the worship and sacrifice of God, he performs those actions with love.
I earn wealth, and I do it to please God and to do God's work, with such a feeling.
So, if he does it with such a feeling, even if he does it for his family, it's fine, meaning God is pleased.
But if he only does it for his family, then he won't be pleased.
Actually, he wants to say that one should distribute appropriately.
A householder should distribute appropriately.
He should properly nourish his dependents.
He should nourish his parents, sisters, daughters, wife, son, and all of them.
In that way, one member should also keep God as God.
Then the wealth he earns also becomes for him, God accepts it.
God doesn't say to the householder that you have to surrender 100% to me.
But when he remembers Him during the distribution, he believes that it is his share, says God.
And that means he does it for God. Whatever a householder earns, he doesn't just give it all to one wife, or just to one child. If there are two or three children, he divides it among all of them.
So, it means that the main person earns for everyone.
So, if he has considered God as a member of the family, and when he distributes the earnings, he remembers God.
Not just remembering, 'God, be pleased, you won't get anything like that.'
He just remembers that God, you have a share in this, whatever it may be.
According to what is stated in the scriptures, or what he has decided in his mind, that is the share.
So, it means that God feels that this person earns for me.
And God waits.
When will this earning come?
How people wait for their pension, that my pension will come on the first of the month.
is going to come. So God himself waits, thinking that his share is going to come to my share.
So, he earns for God only. Even if he earns a little, even if he gives a little, whatever he earns, he earns for God.
After preparing the food, offer it to God in the form of Naivedya during the puja.
Then, I am a servant of God, who has taken refuge in him, and I offer him the Naivedya that has become prasad.
This was just about eating.
Love Krishna's service and do everything like this.
Whatever total earnings or enjoyments one has in life, one should have such a feeling in all of them.
God is with me, and God has a share in this.
God is our member, so even a householder's life is considered to be devoted to God, and sadhus have nothing of their own at all.
And sadhus have nothing of their own at all.
So if he keeps it for himself, everything will fail for him.
He has renounced it.
It is said not to hoard.
One who has renounced should not hoard.
So, what does it mean not to hoard?
Not to use for others.
Not to use for others.
What is hoarding?
So, using it for others is called distribution.
What is called hoarding?
By the renunciant.
He has his own qualities, he knows them.
One should not hide one's qualities, one's skills, but apply them in such a way that they are useful to the devotees of God.
Everything should be used for the devotees of God.
Even if it remains unused, it's useless.
And if he doesn't use it, it's useless.
Just as a householder has wealth, what is said about a householder's wealth?
That whatever is left at the time of death, that much is considered the foolishness of the earner.
What else is there in it?
He has earned, but he has acted foolishly.
Foolishness, how will the children use it, how will they spend it, he doesn't know.
He did not use it for the welfare of his soul.
And it remained unused, and he has to leave it behind.
So it was of no use to him.
That's why it's called foolishness, he has his own earnings, but he gives them to others instead of keeping them for himself.
Then he gives it without any purpose.
He gives his earnings to others, if he has given them as a donation.
Then he gets the fruit of it.
But this is not a donation, nor an enjoyment.
So it's foolishness.
It's neither a donation nor an enjoyment.
So it's foolishness.
He uses it for enjoyment according to his status.
And secondly, he uses it for his own spiritual welfare, and he supports the dependent class.
He should distribute it fairly, as stated in the scriptures, and as the great devotees of the past have done.
And in that, whatever the great devotees of the past have done, one should do the same.
Then, whatever he earns, God believes that he earns it for God.
God believes that.
That he earns only for me, right?
He earns only for me.
Because if a share is coming, we might have invested somewhere.
We often say, don't we, that God is what kind of partner in the householder's dharma?
Sleeping.
The others are active partners, and God is a sleeping partner.
The sleeping partner, at the end of the year, is waiting to see that his share is coming.
And if there is a loss in it, then the sleeping partner will be worried that his share has become zero this time.
And if there is a loss, then his share comes, meaning he tells the working partner to be careful.
And if it happens, he himself comes to help.
So if he is incurring a loss, God himself helps, thinking that his share will be lost, and this is fine.
So God considers him his own.
A renunciant should believe this.
One should not accumulate any virtues for oneself, nor for one's own selfish motives.
Others should benefit, only others should benefit.
That's it.
Then he is called a true renunciant.
If one has a skill or wealth, then only others should benefit from it.
Then it is called a Kalyana Guna (virtue of welfare).
We said.
What is the difference between Kalyana Guna and other ordinary virtues?
Kalyana Guna is used for others, and ordinary virtues are used for one's own benefit.
That is called an ordinary virtue.
And if it is used for the devotee of God, then it is called a Kalyana Guna.
So all the virtues and skills of a devotee of God should become Kalyana skills.
It should be useful to other devotees of God.
Then he should always be devoted to Krishna's service with love.
It is said that he has followed that command.
A householder has to observe it in one way, and a renunciant in another way.
Prepare the food and offer it to God as Naivedya during worship.
Then, with the feeling that 'I am a servant of God, surrendered to Him,' one should partake of that sanctified Naivedya.
Or, believing that this food, in the form of prasad, will increase my devotion to God's form through my devotion, one should eat it.
The devotee of God takes sleep.
Takes food.
He takes it for that reason too.
If he doesn't sleep, he'll go crazy and won't be able to serve, so I don't want to go crazy.
So he sleeps and gets fresh.
If he gets fresh, the service will be proper.
If he takes food, the service will be proper.
If he takes too much, it won't be proper.
So, one should take it in such a way that it is proper, keeping that in mind.
Even if he oversleeps, it won't happen.
If he oversleeps?
He might be tired from sleep, people get tired from sleeping too much, don't they?
If he's tired from sleep, how will he serve?
So, sleep and food are taken with the aim of becoming devoted to God.
Then his sleep is called Nirguna (beyond the three Gunas).
This is mentioned in the next verse.
That all actions related to the Nirguna (attributeless) become Nirguna.
By its relation, all its actions become Nirguna.
So, what does 'all actions' mean?
Sleeping, eating.
Everything from the excretory system onwards.
All his actions are Nirguna.
Why are they Nirguna?
If he doesn't do it, his freshness won't remain.
And if he doesn't remain fresh, he cannot serve God.
So, fitness in the service of God.
Fitness is needed, right?
There are many types of fitness.
In this world, what is fitness called, who is it called?
Body.
Huh?
Body.
Body's health.
Body fitness.
This is body fitness, so to speak.
So I can enjoy everything.
That's all, right?
One can only enjoy if the body is healthy, otherwise one cannot enjoy.
So, those are all fitness for enjoyment.
Similarly, fitness for service is needed.
Whether I am fit for God's service or not.
And to keep oneself fit for service.
If one has all this fitness, they go to the gym, do some exercises, maintain fitness, and then come home and eat.
The total purpose is the same.
And if he doesn't go to the gym, there's no space for food, so going to the gym creates space.
The gym and the toilet are both for making space.
So, when there's space, he eats.
So that's called fitness.
And even if he eats, he doesn't get sick, so it's called fitness.
That's how it is in this world.
What else do old people do to stay fit?
They don't have any responsibilities or anything.
So, what does it mean for them to stay fit?
These two things.
You fall asleep.
The food gets digested.
So, that's not fit.
For that, one exercises a little.
Goes for a walk.
Does that.
Similarly, there is a fitness for serving God.
If you hire someone for a job.
Then what does the employer ask?
Do you know how to do the work we want you to do?
Then he is considered fit for that, right?
So what fitness should we consider?
Fit for God's service.
Am I fit to serve God or not?
Are my qualifications suitable for serving God or not?
Are my skills useful for God or not?
Then he is considered to have thought about fitness.
Until the last breath.
Brahmanand Swami, Muktanand Swami, Gunatitanand Swami, Nishkulanand Swami, all of them thought about fitness until their last breath.
Fit in God's service.
The last breath was taken while serving.
Then he is considered to have achieved fitness in God's service.
Not that kind of worldly fitness.
So for that fitness, he has to go to the gym.
He has to exercise.
So for fitness, sleep, food, all of that is for fitness.
If he just goes to the gym and doesn't eat, then what?
If he goes to the gym and doesn't sleep, he goes to the gym to sleep, he doesn't get sleep at night.
So if he exercises properly, he will get sleep.
If he works hard.
So what should we do to sleep?
What should we do to eat?
What should we do to acquire other facilities?
That's why, so that God gets fitness in His service.
Then he should always have love for Krishna's service.
He should offer food to God and then eat it.
It's a kind of fitness.
When he does such things, he is considered fit for God's service.
Everyone is fit in their own way.
They are always struggling, does anyone want to remain sick?
He immediately wants to get well.
We get well.
But if he has become unfit in service.
He tries to get fit in service again.
If a person gets sick, he runs to the doctor.
Runs to the gym.
Takes medicines.
Why?
Get fit regularly quickly.
If service has slipped from our hands.
Then we feel in our mind that, let's go to the doctor and get fit.
That doesn't happen.
So we haven't even thought about God's fitness.
Our skill.
Our virtues.
Our body power.
All of that.
One or effort.
If that goes outside of God's service, it's not considered that much fitness.
That's not considered that much fitness, is it?
He didn't get fit.
He didn't get fit in God's service that much.
That's why it's said here.
That he should shout, 'I'm robbed, I'm robbed!'
If devotion to God did not happen.
And any time went barren.
Then he should cry.
Barren means.
Without devotion.
No production happened.
It's said that fitness didn't come.
So fitness.
A person should think of fitness in such a way.
That I will serve God until my last breath.
We renunciants have nothing else.
What about a son?
So I remain fit in God's service until my last breath.
It's called fit when.
He should be satisfied, right?
We got satisfied that I did it.
Now I have done a lot.
No householder or renunciant should ever be satisfied with devotion to God.
Just as one is not satisfied with earnings.
Even if God forbids it, we are not satisfied.
Similarly, one should never be satisfied with devotion to God.
More and more fitness should come.
Sometimes we are not fit for some work and sometimes we are fit for some work.
If we don't know how to cook and go to the store, it won't fit, right?
Similarly, if we are not fit for some service of God, then we should try our whole life to become fit.
Become fit for more and more service.
If it fits God, then it is called fitness.
What comes after fitness?
Wellness.
After wellness, happiness.
So after getting fit, try wellness.
What is wellness?
Huh?
If the work is such that it runs like a cart, it is called fitness. If the cart becomes such that it runs, it is called fitness.
But it's fine.
Huh? I'm having fun.
If you have fun, it's called wellness.
So wellness should not come to us, it should come to God.
God says that this is not right.
God becomes happy that what you did is right.
Then we became well.
After fitness, we want to do wellness.
One should be amazed.
Maharaj Gunatitanand Swami's words, as I said, should be crushed.
God should be crushed.
God should say from the other side that now you keep it, keep it, keep it, give time to others.
You did a lot.
You keep it.
Shastriji Maharaj and Swami fell ill in '75.
So what did all the doctors say?
The doctor said that Swami has taken much more work from his body than he should have.
So now he needs to rest.
This body is now tired of it, it has become outdated.
Huh?
Out of limit, out of limit.
So he needs to rest.
And Swami rested and immediately recovered.
He rested and immediately felt fresh again.
So much work was taken from the inner self that all of them started making so much noise and started creating pain.
So that's called wellness, the doctors said, "Now you stop."
But Maharaj must have said it, Maharaj must have entered through the doctor and said it.
Now if we want to stop this, how do we stop it?
So he told the doctor through the doctor that now it is called wellness.
And if he is amazed and crushed by it, then it is called happiness.
God became happy.
This human body and all the means that we hold as ours.
Sometimes it is written on some land that this land is holding so and so.
Holding.
So everything that we hold as ours should be used in God's fitness.
We become fit in God's service.
We become well in God's service.
In God's service, we became happy, happy.
Became helpful.
Then
That is said to be like the verse mentioned.
What was the beginning of the verse?
Having offered food and sacred offerings to Hari, one should always be devoted to Krishna's service with love.
People, God's devotees, our devotees,
Become devoted to God.
Always, forever.
Sada means
In all times.
Always maintain fitness.
Always maintain wellness.
If God ever wishes, say, "But I'm not in the mood right now."
It shouldn't be like, well.
It is not said that God did not do it.
Then from that, a lot of fitness happens.
Then wellness comes.
And a lot of wellness happens.
Then happiness comes.
When the excess of happiness increases, what is it called? Bliss.
Bliss means nothing else but an excess of happiness.
As long as it's within limits, it's called happiness.
And if it goes beyond the limit, more than necessary, then
Many times, our health becomes so good that it's better than necessary, right?
So, when it exceeds what's needed, it's called wellness.
So, when we become more fit in service than what God asks for, then we are said to have cultivated wellness, developed it.
And even more than that, God says, "Enough, enough now."
Then it's called happiness.
So, the food offered to God, and the service to Krishna, should always be done with devotion.
Cultivate fitness, wellness, and happiness in the service of God.
Then one is said to have become devoted to God.
Always be devoted to the service of Krishna.
Always, at all times.
Even our sleep should be fit for the service of God.
If we keep sleeping too much or not at all, it's not called fitness.
People who sleep a lot, it's for those who don't get any sleep at all, right?
If someone sleeps a lot, they go to the doctor and say, "Swami, sir, I sleep too much."
We have Bal Swami, he used to sleep a lot.
Then he was taken to Nadbrahma Saheb.
So, he reduced his sleep.
No one could wake him up.
He even came here, and we folded our hands and said, "Now you take him from here."
So, no one could wake him up, even in the morning.
So, he used to sleep a lot.
So, I took him to Saheb, and Saheb reduced his sleep. Now, look, he has become completely regular.
So, if there's too much sleep, it damages fitness.
Then it damages wellness.
More sleep, more food.
Similarly, less sleep and food, no one keeps less, but if it doesn't digest, that's the problem.
No one keeps less food, but the problem is when you eat it and it doesn't digest.
So, that's called less food.
So, it creates a mess in fitness.
Similarly, our sleep, it doesn't mess up the fitness in God's service, does it?
Our food, it doesn't mess up God's fitness, does it?
Then one can become devoted to God through loving service to Krishna.
Otherwise, one cannot become devoted to God.
One can become self-reliant.
Everyone is self-reliant.
In the 64 characteristics of a sadhu, it is said that one should be victorious over sleep.
So, when is one called victorious over sleep?
One who is moderate in eating and recreation, moderate in actions, and moderate in sleep and wakefulness, such a yoga becomes free from sorrow.
Service is done well.
And when our body functions well in the service of God, that is called appropriate for oneself.
Sleeping only five hours does not apply to everyone.
Small children sleep a lot, eight hours.
And eight hours barely passed.
If young, it's five to seven hours.
If they are old, they only need five or six hours.
So, if they do five or six hours, they become fresh.
Therefore, one should be moderate in eating and recreation, moderate in actions, and moderate in sleep and wakefulness.
So, one's body should function properly and freshly in God.
One's mind should be properly and freshly attached to God.
That much is called appropriate.
Then, if there is less or more, a person can gradually reduce it.
Some people sleep for eight hours.
So, he can make it six hours from that.
That's in the long run.
He can't do it in one day.
And some people only get two or three hours of sleep, and then they toss and turn at night.
So, he can increase that sleep.
And can reduce it.
They can do that by taking remedies, by going to the doctor, or by doing it themselves.
They can increase or decrease it.
So if they feel in their mind that they are getting less time in the service of God.
Then they can reduce their sleep.
And still remain fit.
He gets enough sleep in that much sleep.
The body gets used to it, it gets used to it.
Shastriji Maharaj used to say that.
That all these happy people eat dry fruits, sweets, and spices.
And if there is a poor person, they get to eat carrots.
Then he gets as much nutrition from the carrot as the other person.
Whatever nutrition he gets from almonds, cashews, walnuts, he gets it from carrots.
The body has its capacity.
It pulls everything in.
Whatever needs to be pulled from it, as much as is needed, it pulls everything.
And from that, it pulls only what is needed, if there are walnuts, the rest of it.
In the toilet.
If you put more, where else would it go?
So it is the dharma of the body.
So it adjusts itself.
Someone might feel that their food intake is too much and it doesn't suit them.
Then they can reduce it, but they can't do it in one day.
Someone might feel that they sleep too much.
Then they can reduce it.
But they can't do it in one day.
Therefore, the yoga of proper sleep and wakefulness becomes sorrow.
We call it proper when we serve God for 24 hours and don't get tired.
Our mind never gets tired, we never get bored while doing bhakti.
We never get tired while serving God.
They don't get bored, not getting bored is the fitness of the inner self.
And not getting tired is the fitness of the body.
Boredom is a product of the inner self.
And fatigue is a physical product.
So if we don't get tired, then our body is considered fit.
If boredom comes, sometimes the body is fit, but the mind doesn't work, the mind wanders elsewhere but doesn't chant the rosary, what happens?
Then their inner self is not fit.
So the fitness of the inner self is that one never gets bored in the devotion of God, in becoming devoted to God, one feels joy.
It's fun, the more you do it, the more fun it is, then you are considered fit from the inner self.
We change the activity or service based on time.
So the boredom that was supposed to come doesn't come.
Suppose we are doing a continuous service and we know that if it continues at this time, then it will become boring, and we change it.
So is that weakness or fitness?
It is the weakness of the inner self.
But Maharaj told him not to stop because of it. Gunatitanand Swami and all the Maharaaj said to do varied devotion.
If you get bored with one type of devotion, do another type of devotion.
That is called finding a way out.
It's called managing.
That means we managed our boredom.
Real fitness is when one doesn't get tired, even if there is only one.
That is called fitness.
Because devotion to God is such that one should never be satisfied with it.
If one came into hand, then none.
When a person gets their favorite subject, they don't get tired of it.
No matter how much overtime they do, they don't get tired.
So that means he has interest.
So if that one, then we found a way out.
It means we managed our boredom.
That we also maintained devotion, meaning devotion continued.
There's no problem with that, it's not wrong, it can be done.
If you get bored with one activity, one type of devotion, then you should do the other type of devotion that is your second choice.
If you get bored with the second choice, then the third choice.
to do.
First, do as much as you want with the first choice.
And then make the choice like that.
There is no problem with that, but that is called weakness.
It's not called fitness.
Fitness is when you don't get tired at all.
Nanji Bhagat, he used to fast for 30-30 days.
In Gadhada, there were Paroliyas, there were Parshads of Gopinath Maharaj.
Then for some time, he had a lot of affection for Swami.
So he fasts for 30-30 days.
And then at night, he sits on a big horse, takes the Vachanamrut, and reads it.
He doesn't get sleep, he doesn't doze off.
If he dozes off, he'll fall down.
He never gets sleep at night.
When he reads the Vachanamrut, he never gets sleep.
Take it.
So he doesn't get tired.
Our Mulji Bhagat from Gundasara, he was sick and had a constant fever. So when a young Hari-bhakta would come, he had a lot of respect for the bhakta.
So when a Hari-bhakta would come, a young Hari-bhakta, he had a lot of respect for the bhakta.
So when he came, he said, "Read this."
He would have them read a chapter of Bhakta Chintamani or the Vachanamrut.
So he would say, "Read."
And he reads, and before he starts reading, he says, "Look at my hand, see how much fever I have."
And then he reads for about an hour, and his temperature would have gone down.
How much wonder is that?
So the reason for that wonder is his interest.
He has so much excessive interest.
It's not fitness, it's wellness.
That is called wellness.
That is not called fitness.
In devotion to God, call it wellness rather than fitness.
So all those physical pains go away, and even the pain of the mind goes away, but how does the pain of the body go away? How does the temperature that is there go down?
So the pain of the mind still goes away, but how does the pain of the body go away?
How does the temperature that is there go down?
If you feel bored in your mind, you feel like, "Come on, come on, I enjoyed it."
That happens.
But such amazing devotees exist in the Sampraday.
That happens.
So that's called making him fit.
Now, his body was not fit.
But he made him mentally fit, so mental fitness is more important.
If the body is fit but the mind is not, then one wanders around but cannot do devotion.
Now, in Surat, there are people who sit in the sewer pipes and play cards, but they don't go to the temple.
They sit in the sewers, in the pipes, and play cards.
Not everyone can play cards, the pipe is such that only four people can fit, and everyone else watches.
But still, everyone crowds into the pipes because it's sunny outside, and at home, everyone has been told, pushed, that if you move aside for a while, our women can do their work.
Because it's sunny outside, and at home, everyone has been told, pushed, that if you move aside for a while, our women can do their work.
So this happens.
So they are all physically fit, but not mentally fit.
Mentally, they don't have a moment of compassion for God, or a moment of tolerance.
So they hide in the pipes there.
That happens.
Now the pipes are gone.
That's how it was when Surat was just starting to develop.
But people haven't changed, people are still the same.
Shastriji Maharaj celebrated a 21-day festival, so Swami did not sleep for nine days, so that
That is called interest.
Is it by decision or
No, no, Swami didn't make such a decision that he wouldn't sleep.
He didn't make such a decision.
He was so engrossed in that work that he didn't even remember sleep.
He became so engrossed in the work.
And interest.
Even if we get engrossed, we get bored.
We get bored because there is no interest.
The absence of interest is called boredom.
And that is called mental unfitness.
That is not called fitness.
And even if it's over, there's no boredom, that's called wellness.
Even if it's over.
The fitness of the inner self, what?
Does the fitness of the inner self come from understanding or practice?
From glory.
Glory, interest.
Even if there is no glory, if there is interest, it comes.
Whether it's his mother or grandfather, if he's the only child.
No matter how many tantrums the child throws, those
Oh, so this gets boring?
In that, he sees a new future, that oh, if I do this trick, then in the future, he will become like this.
And if he did such a trick, then in the future, he will become like this.
This one will become an engineer, and if he did that trick, he will become a doctor.
With each trick, he sees a new future.
He doesn't get bored because he has affection.
He has interest and affection.
So, we don't see that if we do this trick, if we do this devotion, then we will become like this in the future, and if we do this devotion, then God will become like this in the future.
And there is no interest in becoming like this.
We are not interested in someone doing such devotion and achieving such a state.
If we do such devotion, we become like Mulji Bhagat.
And if we do such devotion, we become like Shastriji Maharaj, we don't have that interest in it, do we?
So, we don't have the glory and interest, that's why it's not like that.
If there is either glory or interest, then it comes.
Either interest is needed or glory is needed, then it comes.
Interest is someone's natural disposition from a previous birth.
Everyone has different tastes, 'ruchir bhinna nohi loka'.
What does 'ruchir bhinna nohi loka' mean? It means 'rasa bhinna nohi loka' (people have different tastes).
One person is interested in this, and another is interested in that; they don't understand the glory.
Interest is natural.
So, if someone has developed an interest, then there is no problem.
Maharaj said that when someone is not a devotee of God, they have a lot of interest in women and other material things.
And if that same person turns to God, then he develops the same kind of affection for God.
So that is interest.
If he developed such affection for God, then it's good.
But Maharaj also said that eternal jivas are not like that.
It develops.
If there is no fitness, where should one start?
Huh? If there is no fitness, where do you start?
With exercise.
Exercise is a means to fitness.
Just as exercise is the means to physical fitness.
Similarly, this is also called exercise.
He exercises, saying, 'Today, brother, let's go, today I did this much devotion, so tomorrow I'll increase it a little.'
Fitness enthusiasts don't drink 100 'dand' (a type of exercise) on the first day.
And the one who does lifting, he doesn't lift 500 kg on the first day.
First, he lifts 50 kg, then 20 kg, then he goes to 50 kg, then he reaches 100 kg.
So then he keeps getting fit.
Lifting.
Do you understand lifting or not?
Yes.
So that's it.
So,
how much devotion can we lift?
And how much responsibility can we lift to please God?
So if we did a little more today, then a little more tomorrow.
If you want to bring fitness, then you should do lifting, right?
So as he keeps doing lifting, he keeps increasing it.
Just as he has his exercise, similarly, a devotee of God also has the exercise of devotion.
That today I listened to a discourse for half an hour, so tomorrow I will increase it by five minutes.
Increase it from that.
Increase it from that.
Today I chanted a rosary for half an hour, so tomorrow I will chant more than that.
Today I did this much, so tomorrow I will do more than that.
So that is exercise.
And it's exercise, so lifting and
all those
walking and
The more I make my body move, the more fitness I get.
You just have to move around in the gym.
Where do we have to go to the gym? We can move around here in devotion.
Then fitness comes to me.
After preparing the meal, during the puja, he offered it to God.
No
Sir
It was mentioned earlier in the discourse that if someone exaggerates anything, there is an intention of prestige behind it.
There is an intention.
Fame.
Fame.
So
So
Perhaps
If one exaggerates devotion, then there is interest in it.
Not fame in that.
To please God.
If he acts, then it's for fame.
But if
If he does it naturally with interest, then there is fame in it.
In devotion, there is no prohibition against excess; on the contrary, it is encouraged to do so in excess.
There is no limitation to devotion.
In detachment and dharma, do as much as is stated in the scriptures.
What is the limitation of detachment? To be free from this world.
So then the limitation of detachment came.
What is the excess of knowledge? It is in God.
Join in.
After joining God excessively, there is no need to tell God how you are, I know.
Excessive devotion is not considered excessive.
I mean, I don't get satisfaction, I don't get satisfaction.
The taste is like the story of a sadhu, such examples are also given.
A lustful soul is not satisfied with a woman.
Similarly, a devotee of God is not satisfied with devotion.
Like the story of a sadhu.
Such an example is given that one should do such devotion.
Such devotion never satisfies him.
He is not satisfied by his words, he is not satisfied by his yoga, he is not satisfied by anything.
Similarly, one should not be satisfied with devotion to God.
Contentment is a blemish on devotion. It does not go forward. Who is the enemy of the great? Good. One who wants to be great should not remain in good. Similarly, one who wants to achieve fitness in devotion should never be content with devotion, thinking that I have done a lot, where have others done it?
Contentment comes only when one looks at others.
If you look at God, it won't happen.
If he looks at God, he feels that he should do something more, as if he has not done anything yet.
That's what happens when he looks at God.
He looks at others and thinks, 'He's not doing anything, he's not doing anything, if he wakes up at 5:30, why shouldn't I wake up at 5 o'clock?'
Prepared food
How much is there?
After preparing the food, offer it to God as naivedya during worship. Then, partake of that consecrated naivedya with the feeling that 'I am a servant who has surrendered to God,' or partake of it believing that 'this food, in the form of prasad, will enhance my devotion to the form of God.'
Or, considering this food as prasad, by eating it, it will increase my devotion to the form of God, and he eats it.
Then, all actions like earning wealth and eating, as mentioned above, should be considered as actions performed for the sake of God.
So, in this order, all
Eating and so on, that is, as if there is no other path, what is it called in Sanskrit? Agatya.
There is no other important way for him.
So, food and the excretory system are important only for that, and that too is for keeping the body fresh and devotion fresh.
So, God is called eternal.
As if Krishna is devoted to God.
As mentioned above, the acquisition of wealth
The rest of the time is dedicated to God, so God does not deduct from that person, saying, 'You went to the toilet, so I'm deducting the 15 minutes you wasted.'
He counts that too.
Count that in devotion.
He went to the toilet too.
Because, after going to the toilet and making the body proper, he is going to do this devotion, that should be our decision and God should know it.
But if he goes to the toilet and then wanders around, then it's not good.
So, eating, drinking, everything in devotion to God
It is always said, 'Krishna seva bhare pitya bhavitavyam cha tai sada.'
Not a single minute minus from 24 out of 24 hours.
So how does that happen?
But God does not subtract it.
Whatever is necessary to do, he does as much as possible, so God gives him all that extra bonus, saying that he also did devotion.
It's done.
All these actions should be considered as actions performed for the sake of God.
Therefore, to say that all senses should be engaged in activities related to God in this order, it is said that those self-surrendered devotees should always be eager to serve Lord Shri Krishna with love.
Victory to Sahajanand Swami Maharaj.
