Also in the city of Vadodara, the wonders that Maharaj fulfilled cannot be reckoned even in writing — such were the deeds he did for his people. To each and every one, in various ways, the wonders are without limit. Beholding the devotion of his people, Bhagwan was pleased, and continually gives darshan to men and women, the treasury of mercy. In whatever way Maharaj fulfilled the wishes of his people, let me tell it, all listen — the power of Swami Sahajanand.
Let me now tell of Nath's greatness — hearing it brings intoxication of spirit. There was a desireless Brahmin devotee named Sadashiv, whose daughter was named Urmaiya, upon whom Maharaj bestowed grace. She would attain concentration and see the divine abodes, coming and naming them by name.
Indra's heaven, Kailash, Vaikunth, and Golok too; Shwetadvip and Akshardham, and other such realms, she named. She saw the abodes and the lord of the abodes, Sahajanand, the form of happiness; she had his darshan continually, and the Lord affectionately called to her.
One day the Lord said, "Today we shall eat by your hand. Prepare a fine meal — bananas, roti, all ready." Then, waking from her concentration, she rose to cook. A fine meal was prepared, and the manifest Support of Life ate.
The household saw the form gathered together, unable to fully grasp what it was. They understood the manifest Lord had come, saying, "Today our lives are fulfilled." They watched him seated for four ghadis, then he departed without their noticing. Seeing this wonder, the people were astonished, all saying, "Blessed, blessed."
This wonder was given by the compassionate one, friend of the humble, protector of the humble. Let me tell one more day's account — listen, all of you, to this well-known story. Having entered concentration, Urmaiya Bai came before Hari as he was present there. Having his darshan, she sat by him, beholding Nath with joy in her heart.
Urmaiya said, "Maharaj, give me some prasad today." At that time the Life of Life was eating various fine dishes. Having eaten and rinsed his mouth, Nath took a cloth and wiped his hands. Maharaj gave it to Urmaiya, the prasad, for her worship.
He gave her that cloth within her concentrated state, and Urmaiya brought it back with her. When she woke and looked, she found it beside her, and the servant asked about the cloth. "This is the cloth Nath keeps — from where has it come to your hand, girl?" Urmaiya said, "In my concentration I brought it here from Gadhada."
Then everyone said, "Blessed, blessed," this wonder had occurred, said the people. Also on one day, having entered concentration, she came again before Maharaj. She had darshan of the compassionate one, and her mind grew exceedingly joyful. That day was the day of Sankranti, and the Beloved had summoned the Brahmins.
Grain and money were given as gifts, taken by the Brahmins of the village gathered there. Urmaiya Bai was sitting there, and sesame-laddus and money were given there. Maharaj gave this within her concentration, for her father Sadashiv's sake.
Then, when Urmaiya woke, the physical proof remained with her at that moment. She gave it to Sadashiv, and related the whole divine play there. Then, recognizing it as extraordinary prasad, it was given and received among the men and women. Everyone shouted victory: "Blessed, blessed, incarnation of Hari."
Also on one day, Urmaiya Bai entered concentration, going before Shri Maharaj, who looked at her and said, "Why do you come every single day — what is this affection you have for me?" She said, "You are Shri Krishna himself — only an unfortunate one would not have your darshan. So I have come for darshan's sake, Maharaj, I have no other purpose."
Then, smiling, the Lord filled his hand and gave her sugar, that beautiful one. He immediately plucked tulsi buds and gave them as excellent prasad. It was the day of Janmashtami, and he gave her the sacred panchamrit mixture, that pure gift. A fragrant kevada flower, filled with scent, the Lord gave, worn upon his own head.
Having given this prasad with grace, the Lord said, "Now go home." Urmaiya returned to her body, bringing the manifest prasad with her. This is extraordinary prasad, which even Brahma and others desire; that for which Shiva bore such suffering, that for which he even once became a fish — such prasad, so rare, this woman attained in her concentration. This is truly an astonishing matter — what greatness of Hari can be told?
Let me also tell one more day's account: the monsoon was greatly delayed, and everyone became despondent, abandoning hope of the rain's coming. Old and young alike grew anxious, wondering how they would survive this crisis. Sadashiv too grew troubled: "In our own home there is no way through this.
"So let us send word to Maharaj — without asking, faith does not come." So they sent word through Urmaiya: "Ask what Nath says about the rain." Then Urmaiya entered concentration, going to where Shri Hari himself was. Having his darshan, she sat by him, and then the Imperishable One spoke, smiling:
"What do you wish to ask, Urmaiya? Ask your question, keep no doubt at all." Urmaiya said, "I am not asking for myself — I have asked on behalf of the people." Then the beautiful Shyam said, "What concern do you have with the rain? Sit worry-free in worship — you will receive clothing and food."
Urmaiya said, "I am not saying this for myself — I have asked on the people's behalf." Then the Lord said, "Go there — rain will come within four ghadis. Tell this account when you go there — the rain has not delayed." She came and told this account exactly, and within four ghadis it proved true.
Though rain was not destined for this time, the Beloved caused the cloud to rain at his word. It rained, and joy came, and everyone shouted victory. "Blessed, girl, blessed your devotion — this is a very great wonder that has occurred."
Let me tell one more day's account — listen, all of you, directly. Urmaiya sat in concentration and went before the Lord, that girl. She had his darshan, her eyes filled with the sight, and seeing Maharaj she grew joyful. The Lord said, "This girl has come running here again and again." Saying this, he took a garland that was near him and placed it around her neck.
He gave her crests and garlands to wear, exceedingly thick and fragrant. When she came out of her concentration, she remained with them beside her. Also on one day he gave her seven guava fruits — whatever thing is given in concentration remains manifest and proven when one wakes.
Also on one day he gave her a mango fruit, exceedingly sweet and pure. And on one day he took a leaf-plate and gave two pearl-white laddus, freshly made just then, set before him on the plate. These the Beloved took and gave — this great matter cannot be fully told.
Thus he brought extraordinary things and distributed them in this world. Whatever is received in concentration remains proven manifest here. This is no small matter — it is truly an extraordinary, direct thing. Such a way has never been seen or heard of — consider it well, all of you.
Today he wields such great power — with one tongue, how much can I tell? He cherishes his people so — I have not told even those things. I have written of the wonders of the devotees I have named; there are many others still, more than these. Today he gives such great joy — blessed, blessed, says Nishkulanand.
