Also in the city of Vadodara, let me tell, describing it, one more account — the wonders fulfilled for his devotees, known to all as directly true. To each and every one, countless wonders the Imperishable One gives; because of this, intoxication of spirit remains in the body, the mind of his servants ever joyful.
This world and the next have both become accessible for everyone through this; embodied, they are not sorrowful, and after the body's release, Maharaj comes for them. Seeing people in this condition, they take up satsang with exceeding love, and because of it a fresh color rises continually in the body.
Blessed, blessed is this satsang, in which Shri Hari himself comes to help. Wherever Swami gave such great help, let me tell of it now, reverently. There was a Brahmin devotee, Ramchandra, a fine physician known as a leader among men, who, understanding it, took up satsang, worshipping Swami Shriji unwaveringly.
Continuing his practice of remembrance with every breath, he lay down hoping for inner darshan. He said, "Many days have passed, and I have not had darshan." "I cannot go there myself, so bound am I by worldly duty." Thus his mind grieved greatly: "When will darshan come now?"
Remembering thus, he lay upon his cot and said, "Nath, open the door." Ramchandra rose, hearing this call, and, hopeful, understood the Lord had arrived. He rose quickly and opened the door, and Hari came into the house. Like crores upon crores of suns, his splendor cannot be told at all.
His ocean-of-bliss form, seeing which no trace of suffering remained. Accompanied by Indira (Lakshmi), the mine of beauty, praised by crores of poets yet never fully described. Adorned head to foot, he shone with Lakshmi beside him, boundless in splendor. Ramchandra said with folded hands, "You have fulfilled me today, Nath.
"Great is my fortune, Maharaj, that this extraordinary darshan has occurred today. Stay, let me prepare a meal, and let us eat together, Support of Life." Then the Lord spoke in sweet tones: "We came for your longing's sake. We shall not eat, we must go on — have darshan, all together."
Giving darshan, being pleased, Hari then departed from there. Ramchandra said, "Blessed, blessed, I have had darshan today." "You have shown me such abundant grace, I have attained a wonder, meeting the manifest one."
Let me tell one more day's account: Bhagwan came directly himself. He came at midnight, the Imperishable One, while everyone slept with doors locked. He said to his maidservant, "Wake up — your house has caught fire."
She delayed in waking, then woke Amrut Bai. "Your house is burning — how can you sleep at such a time?" She then woke the physician (vaidya), saying, "Wake up, Maharaj has come." He had told her to wake him, saying, "There is a flame — why are you sleeping?"
"So go and see where it is burning — is it far off, or has it caught here?" Then Ramchandra went and looked, and found the fire had started in his own house. He extinguished it and offered praise: "Blessed, blessed, Lord of Life. Had you, friend of the humble, not woken us, our death would have come today.
"You have taken care of us, Shri Maharaj — we have received a new birth." Saying this, all fell at his feet, and then Hariray spoke, smiling: "Today I have taken this incarnation to care for my devotees.
"That my servant should suffer in any way — I do this so that it should not happen," said the Imperishable One. "So I have given a wonder today," saying this, Maharaj departed. Astonished, Ramchandra said, "Blessed, blessed, ocean of happiness."
Let me tell one more day's account, a wonder that occurred — listen, all of you. He was invited to eat at the home of a devotee (swan-like one), who prepared a plate for the deity (Thakur). Vegetables, dishes, and jalebis were arranged, filled on a plate and set before it. The Life of Life came and ate, Bhagwan himself, manifest and proven.
He ate and took eight jalebis, giving one to a devoted woman. He said, "I had gone to the physician's house — today we have eaten well there. I have brought this prasad from the plate — see, these jalebis are excellent and sweet." He said, "Divide it among all the women — distribute it among the group."
The prasad Maharaj gave, the woman distributed among the other women. Now hear the physician's own account — what happened, exactly as it was. When the swan-like ones sat to eat, Ramchandra checked the plate. Eight jalebis were fewer than expected, and he understood in his mind, though he said nothing.
Then the matter became clear, and Ramchandra too understood. Such was the wonder that Ramchandra experienced many times. Let me tell also of one more unique story, a joy for the satsangi.
Ramchandra's wife said to Ramchandra, "When we go for the festival, what worship offerings shall we take?" Ramchandra, hearing this, said, "We shall have a saffron-colored outfit made." Amrut said, "Nath wears saffron clothing on some days.
"He wears white clothing more often, so have that kind made as well." Then Ramchandra said, "Very well, whatever Maharaj wishes will happen." As the day passed thus, in the evening the Life of Life arrived, wearing a fine and beautiful outfit, a fine gold-brocaded gown with a turban on his head, a shawl and mantle, all saffron-colored, adorned with garlands of flowers, bees hovering about him.
A neighboring woman saw him in the marketplace. Nath spoke to her, saying, "Tell Amrut Bai when you go: you said I do not wear saffron clothing — today I have worn it all. Tell her, Maharaj said this." Having seen Nath, she came and told this account to the physician.
Then Ramchandra's wife said, "Blessed is your immeasurable greatness." Seeing such a miracle, no dull-minded person would fail to believe. Wonders beyond number occur moment by moment — his devotees know this, though the world does not.
Let me tell one more excellent story — hold it firmly in your minds, all of you. There was a scholar-Brahmin, Shobharam, worshipping Sahajanand, the abode of happiness, with mind, deed, and word a true devotee of Hari, with true faith in Maharaj. His son's time came, and the compassionate one came himself to fetch him.
The pulse stopped and breath ceased, unable to speak or recognize anyone. Seeing this, Shobharam, at that moment, offered praise to Maharaj. Hearing it, the Lord was pleased, saying, "This one's body need not be taken."
Saying this, he became manifest, taking pity on the devotee of Hari. He gave darshan to everyone, and all said, "Blessed, Bhagwan. You have come, compassionate one, and today taken care of us." The Lord said, "We had come today to fetch your son.
"But we shall leave him and go — all of you, give up your grief." Saying this, he became invisible, and the people beheld this wonder. Then his son, at that very moment, rose sitting up from his bed. He said, "Nath had come to fetch me — I was going along with Maharaj.
"He said, 'I leave you behind,'" telling this account to everyone. Hearing this, everyone was filled with joy, saying, "Blessed, Swami Sahajanand. You have given this wonder, compassionate one, Nath has revived a dead child.
"You also gave darshan to everyone, and kept me among the living." When Shobharam told this, Nishkulanand wrote it down at that time.
