The compassionate one had been at Dabhan; the beautiful, wise, dark Lord then set off from there, greatly renowned, and came to Budhej. The devotee Hathibhai lived there; he stayed the night, giver of happiness. From there Maharaj came westward, to where the devotee Odhav Jeraj lived.
He stayed one night at his home, then the Beloved came to Zinzar; with him was the devotee Mer Jetho, a very aged man in body. He was dressed in a fine new garment, a brocaded robe and golden turban; staying the night, the compassionate one then came to Kundal. There the great devotees Marmaiyo and Ram lived; he stayed there a couple of nights.
From there he came to Sarangpur, staying there three days. Then Nath came to Nagadka, all his companions with him; there the devotee Suro, a true satsangi, a devotee of Hari detached from the world, lived. Girdhar went to his home and stayed four days there, the giver of life fed with great love, the Lord pleased with the people.
To give darshan, pleasing the people's hearts, fine clothes were sent for by dark Shyam; the Beloved wore a golden garment, and whoever beheld it considered themselves greatly fortunate. Then Shyam set off from there, and Nath came to Piparadi; there the pure devotee Pitho lived, and the sweet, beloved one stayed at his home.
Then beautiful dark Shyam set off, and came to the village of the devotee Mantra; from there he ate at Bhoyra, and gave darshan to the devotee Naja. Then from there he came to Gokhlana, where the devotee Jivo's fortune awoke; then the all-accomplishing one set off and came, compassionate one, to the village of Kariyana.
He stayed there, greatly pleased, and devotees came from everywhere for darshan. Thus, as Holi approached, the Beloved performed his pleasing play; there he threw gulal, coloring all his companions red, clapping and making merry as modest onlookers, embarrassed, looked on.
Having held the festival, the Beloved then gave a robe of honor to Alaiya, telling him, "Keep wearing this very garment, and come again to the Valak region. Take ten or twenty companions with you, and continue speaking always of the Lord." Having given him this instruction, he then departed from there.
There lived Prem Putli at Kotda; the Beloved went to her home as well. Then he came to the village of Nadal, where the devotees Gangev and Ram lived; there Lakhman fed him, and then Maharaj went to Bandhi. He stayed the night at the home of Sheth Jutha, then went from Gondal to Vad.
From there the Lord came to Bhader, giving darshan and increasing the people's delight; then from there he came to Pipaliya, where he was much loved by Manbai. From there he crossed the desert-flat, and came into the land of Kutch, showing compassion there, giving darshan to everyone.
He gave darshan to the devotees of Vagad, Pavar, Kutch, and Abdasa; he observed the Bhim Ekadashi at Bhuj, then set off by boat. Disembarking, Hari came to Halar, giving his devotees boundless happiness. Whatever village lay along the way, the Beloved would rest there, giving darshan with the greatest pleasure — his mind was set on going to Sorath.
From there he came to Gadh Jirna, staying the night without anyone knowing; then the charming one set off from there and came to Agatrai, the delightful, charming one. He stayed ten days there, then came to the village of Panchal.
There the foremost devotee Zinobhai lived; Shyam stayed there, giver of happiness, giving darshan to all the people, showing mercy and fulfilling them. Then from there Hari came, showing grace, to Manavadar; there the devotees Mayaram, Govind, Bhano, Ambo, and Vagho lived, along with the resident devotees and others — Nath gave them all darshan.
Then Shyam set off from there, giving darshan village by village; he came, compassionate one, to Kariyana, giving darshan to everyone. There the devotee Santdas came, a great liberated soul with inner illumination — he could travel bodily across the Himalayas, and had himself gone and returned there twice by his own will, coming and going as he wished, something no other could do.
The imperishable one asked after this, and Santdas told him everything. The Lord said, "Listen, Santdas — remain dwelling within the satsang." So saying, he settled the matter, and the sadhu gave up the path to the Himalayas.
Then all the sadhus were summoned, to give the devotees the greatest happiness. He had the devotee-king leave word: "Tell everyone to come for darshan." The sadhus came, gathering together, from the companies scattered across many regions.
Everyone came to be near Prabhuji, coming to behold the imperishable one; Shyam came forward himself to meet them, fulfilling the sadhus' heartfelt longing. Then the sadhus and Shri Hari sat together, and the Beloved asked them with love: "Sadhus, are you all well? You appear quite thin at present. Eat a little more food, so that you may perform devotion to the Lord in comfort." He said this out of compassion, yet renunciation remains dear to Hari himself.
Then he had the people fed by Nath, serving them lovingly with his own hand; even the food-offerings which Brahma himself desires, yet cannot obtain even a grain of — this consecrated food was received by all the sadhus, given to them lovingly by Bhagwan himself.
The utterly boundless, compassionate one, the ocean of happiness, the beautiful dark Lord; and whenever Nath went to bathe, the sadhus would go along with him. There he would race his horse about, and the people would watch, eyes filled, gazing at the giver of life, praising the sight of him.
They said, "The radiance belonging to everyone has all gathered together in this assembly of sadhus" — saying this, they were greatly pleased, and then Nath returned to his lodging. Thus, with ever-new divine plays continuing daily, then Janmashtami arrived.
He held the celebration with the greatest joy, and everyone in the gathering found happiness. Devotees had come from village after village, and beheld the imperishable one. There a fine drizzle of rain fell, and the charming one played, filled with joy.
Seeing this, the people were delighted, and thus the day of Ashtami passed. Having performed such divine play, the charming one then set off from there. He came to Sukhpur, ocean of bliss, the compassionate friend of the humble; he stayed there four days, giving the sadhus boundless happiness.
From there Nath came to Sarangpur, all his companions and sadhus with him, giving darshan, being pleased, and the people, beholding his face, were delighted. He spoke playfully and with hidden meaning, as the charming one who knows the hearts of his people; speaking thus, playfully, with a smile, he gave the vow of sannyas to Bapubhai.
Whatever suits each person, the imperishable one does accordingly for them; understanding this, being the knower of all hearts, Swami then spoke to the sadhus: "Sadhus, go now, all together, and wander region by region. Whoever wishes to study, let him study; remain all skillful in your discipline. Whatever falls outside the discipline does not please us at all." Then the sadhus said, "It is true, Swami," and, bowing their heads, they departed.
