Having departed from Gadhada, the beautiful, dark-hued one, taking the whole group with him, stayed a night at Botad, where devout devotees lived.

From there they departed with the group and came to Sundariyana; having fed the people, Life set out and came to Vagad and Aniyali.

Devotees lived at Jasak and Rojak, and the merciful one gave them darshan; then Nath stayed at Kamiyala, knowing of an injured devotee's hand.

Having eaten at Boru, they stayed at Galiyana, and came to Vartal at evening time; he gave darshan to his devotees, and the people beheld Bhagwan with devotion.

Then the devotees said, folding their hands, "Welcome, Lord of the helpless — we have long thirsted for you, and today the imperishable one has given us darshan."

Saying this, they sat before him, and seeing Nath, their sorrows dissolved; the people prepared a fine meal, and Nath ate a chapati from it.

Two sadhus were with him, and the Beloved gave them a plate as well; then Pranajivan went to sleep, and Bhagwan awoke at the sacred hour of dawn.

He brushed his teeth and bathed, and then gave darshan to his devotees; then he looked upon and praised greatly the image of Shri Narayan.

Then people who had come from Vadodara to have darshan — Shyam went among their group, giving darshan and fulfilling their wish.

Then the people had a meal prepared, and the merciful one ate with grace; then, rejoicing, they placed a shawl and a fine tunic upon Hari's shoulders.

They performed the arati with incense and lamps, then, with folded hands, made this petition: "Welcome, O manifest support of our life, come to redeem ones such as us.

Today our birth has borne fruit, having met the manifest Purushottam.

Now we are yours, O Lord, we and our whole family together."

Then Nath said, "Have no fear; you are ours — what more need be done?"

Saying this, Nath went with all the people to the platform outside; there questions and answers took place, and hearing them all the people rejoiced.

Such talk the imperishable one gave, and the devotees heard it with great love; such talk occurred continually, and the people listened with their whole hearts.

In the fine year, on the twelfth day of the bright half of Kartik, at a most auspicious moment, the image of Shri Narayan was installed; the Brahmins performed the Vedic rites, and Prabhu was installed on that auspicious day.

Lakshmi-Narayan, giver of happiness, was installed in the central shrine; Bhakti and Dharma, his own manifest form, were installed in the northern shrine, incomparable.

Radha and the Wanderer of Vrindavan, together with his own fine image, were installed in the southern shrine, to dispel the suffering of his own people.

There, cries of victory resounded, and men and women called out blessings.

Then the Brahmins were fed, given food according to their wishes; they were given gifts of clothing and silver, and the Brahmins were pleased in their hearts.

Then he stayed there five days, and from there the Beloved went to Vaso.

Many people lived in Vaso, all thirsting for darshan of Prabhu; Nath went from house to house, giving darshan and granting them refuge.

The company of sadhus who accompanied him were given a meal there as well; he himself served it, feeding the whole assembly of sadhus.

Then he mounted his horse, having bowed to the sadhus: "Sadhus, remain in joy; we shall meet again soon."

Saying this, Bhagwan departed, and all the sadhus grew sorrowful.

"Ah, he kept us with him so long — today the Lord has gone, leaving us apart.

Ah, we used to have darshan every day — even that has now become a memory; today the Enchanter has left us — when shall we have darshan again?"

Saying this, they grew greatly troubled; then, holding his form in their hearts, all the sadhus regained their composure and went off to wander in various lands.

On that day, as Nath was eating pan, I myself fed it to him with my own hand .

From there he came to Vatamana village and stayed the night, the beautiful, dark-hued one.

Having eaten at Jakhda, he went to Kamiyala, giving darshan to the devotees there, the merciful one; he stayed the night and then departed from there, taking Muktanand ji with him.

Passing through Ganph, Kharad, and Zinzar, he went from there to Kundal and Kariyani, and then Maharaj came to Gadhada, where the Beloved undertook this task.

He stayed there, pleased in himself, giving darshan and dispelling sorrow; he fed the people with love, and ate pan daily himself.

He ate pan for twenty-five days, then Jagdish stopped eating it; after that he stayed ten days more, and the unfortunate ones incurred disgrace.

Then, recognizing the wickedness of the wicked, Prabhu went to Kariyani; he stayed there two or four days, then came to Gadhada.

He stays long in Gadhada — blessed, blessed is the fortune of that land!

One matter of beauty remains untold, as pleasing to hear as any other — earlier the people of Ayodhya had come, and I had not yet told that story in full; now I shall tell it at length, that men and women may find joy in hearing it.

Whether told in order or not, the whole account must be told.

Ramprataap and Ichharam had remained at their own home; there the sadhus went and told them, "Hari has manifested in your household," giving the full account with proofs, and, coming to believe it, they rejoiced.

Hearing this, they set out at once — the old, the young, and the little children — taking horses and palanquins with them, and came without difficulty, suffering no hardship.

In the western region lies the country of Panchal, where Hari always wanders; knowing the village of Vartal, Sarangapani was there.

There the people of Ayodhya arrived, and the imperishable one went out to meet them; it was the fourth day of the bright half of Kartik when they came from the city of Ayodhya.

On that day the people of Ayodhya came and had darshan of Maharaj; falling and bowing, they all touched his feet, tears flowing from their eyes.

Weeping, they would not release his feet, and the tears from their eyes did not dry; overcome with the pain of separation, they spoke broken words: "O Maharaj, how could you do this — you left and never gave us darshan again.

Just as you never gave darshan, merciful one, you never looked after us again.

What was our fault, O Lord, that you left us orphaned?

Beloved, you forgot us, and we were left bewildered and defeated.

Since you left there, twenty-eight years have passed, and in all that time not one message did you send — how could such indifference come upon you?

Perhaps the fault is ours, Beloved — there is no blame in you; perhaps the fault is ours, O Lord — please do not hold it against us," they said, folding their hands.

Nath said, "The fault is not yours; it is simply our nature.

Wherever we stay, we grow close, but we do not forget and dwell on those we've left.

Whoever holds love for Hari, that one we remember always; for others, our affection is less," said the compassionate abode of mercy.

As his own conduct truly was, so did Life reveal it to them.

Thus Shyam was reunited with his relatives, and the people of Ayodhya found peace.
