Canto number 26.
Behold, God created this universe,
In it, He made seven continents and nine divisions.
In which various people resided,
All of them worship Hari continuously.
They continuously worship the imperishable Lord, becoming humble and submissive.
They know the Lord to be all-powerful, considering themselves weak.
Furthermore, in this universe, He created seven oceans.
Their waters were diverse, made in many ways.
He also placed large mountains as boundaries.
Because of this, they resided happily in their respective places.
In the middle, He made Mount Meru, and created nine hundred thousand stars.
He made the moon and sun powerful, to illuminate everyone.
He created stationary and moving beings, and nourished them in many ways.
He did this by His own will, without any enmity.
Such is the powerful Shri Hari, whatever He wills, that happens.
Leaving the refuge of such a one, the weak sing of their own strength.
Great wonder prevails, for an earthly being to reside in the sky.
Nishkulanand says, that man's strength is without knowledge.
Swami says that God has created this universe in an astonishing way.
He has arranged an amazing system in it.
He has made seven continents.
He has made nine divisions.
In it, according to karma, He has placed different gods, humans, and others.
All of them, knowing God to be extremely powerful, worship Him.
They understand God's immense glory.
Considering God to be extremely powerful, and themselves to be very small and weak, they firmly take refuge in God and worship Him.
In this universe, He created seven oceans for the seven continents.
The taste of all their waters is different.
He also created large mountains as boundaries.
Therefore, everyone settled peacefully in their respective places.
In the middle, He created Mount Meru and countless stars.
He created the sun and the moon.
He created stationary and moving beings.
He arranged for the nourishment of all of them.
God made arrangements so that no one would wake up hungry or go to sleep hungry.
He did that purely out of His own compassion and His independent will.
Who else could be so powerful as to show compassion to a jiva and perform such a great feat?
God is all-powerful; whatever He wills, that happens.
Leaving the refuge of such a great God, a lowly jiva begins to understand its own greatness.
That's like a person living on earth wishing to stay in the sky and never come to earth.
Then Swami says that he has made that decision without checking his own strength.
He will not be able to make it possible.
There is ego, isn't there, of one's own
Whatever I do, it all happens.
We are so powerful, we have done this much, and we are going to do that much.
It is said so in the Gita.
I did this, and I defeated so many enemies, and now I am going to defeat this many.
I have gained this much, and I am going to gain that much.
All those are symptoms of ego.
And if there is ego, then refuge cannot be taken.
Ego is its opposite.
Yesterday we discussed, didn't we, that this inner enemy is there.
It torments him.
So what should one consider it?
That opinion was somewhere.
So, refuge, you see,
Ego increases the warrior mood.
And refuge increases warrior strength.
If one takes refuge in God, then one gains the strength to fight against inner enemies.
And if ego has increased, then one gets the mood to fight others.
Whether there is strength or not, it doesn't matter.
But he keeps fighting with everyone.
He fights with anyone.
And the other one doesn't have a warrior mood, but has warrior strength.
His strength to fight against inner enemies becomes tremendous.
By God's refuge.
So he can consider himself fulfilled.
Even if there are inner enemies.
If there are inner enemies, he controls them.
They may not be destroyed, they may all still be there.
But he has gained strength, so it happens to him.
In that, how much is the duty of God's refuge and one's own strength?
The strength that comes, comes from that refuge.
Vali and Sugriva were both fighting.
So Sugriva couldn't even stand against Vali.
No one could stand.
So that was Vali's strength.
But God told him, He told Sugriva, 'You go and fight.'
So what did that mean?
It's God's strength.
He got strength from God.
So he started challenging Vali.
Bhim and Jarasandha had a battle.
So Bhim couldn't do anything against Jarasandha.
But God said, 'Let's go.'
We are standing here.
So Bhim got strength.
Someone is behind me.
Arjun was defeated.
Why did he lose?
He was a great warrior, even then.
But how were all the opponents?
So God said, 'You are merely an instrument with all your might.'
You just be an instrument.
I am sitting by your side.
So he gets strength like that.
And all those others, they keep their warrior mood.
That we should fight with anyone.
Not to back down from a fight.
That is a characteristic of ego.
The characteristic of refuge is that if needed, there is strength.
He doesn't go around fighting everyone.
But if needed, they are not afraid.
Prahlad, when he needed to, he didn't back down.
When Arjun needed to, he didn't back down.
So such strength comes from taking refuge in God.
There is mood, warrior mood and warrior strength.
That mood comes from ego.
Even if he doesn't have strength, he keeps hitting others.
He doesn't think about his own strength, whether he will succeed or not.
And it doesn't happen. Arrogant people don't succeed much.
If they do, it's only for a little while.
Then it doesn't happen.
In the end, it doesn't happen.
Ravana, Kansa, and all these are great examples.
Everyone should learn from them.
Those who are filled with ego, in the end, they are going to be trampled in the dust.
Because they only have the mood, not the strength.
There is a mood.
To fight with everyone.
No one should be left without a fight.
We came into this world.
Anyone who comes into hand should not be left without a fight.
That is called a warrior mood.
Yes.
Swami, when we are checking how much service we have done, how much service we have done according to the target, what should we keep in mind so that ego does not arise?
What did you say?
When we are doing service, what should we keep in mind so that ego does not arise?
Swami, when we analyze our service, how much we sang, how much we did,
When we analyze it, what should we keep in mind so that ego does not arise?
What did you say?
When we set a target and do service, and analyze the service, how much was done and how much was not done, what should we keep in mind so that ego does not arise?
So, we do service, we sum it up, we analyze it, but to whom do we apply its result?
Do we apply it to ego or to God?
We should look at that very deeply.
That, well, we should definitely do the sum.
It doesn't mean that we should do completely wasted effort.
Its result must definitely come.
And if the result is not coming, then one should also worry about it.
But that result, should it be taken for God's benefit or for ego's benefit?
The credit, should we take it or give it to God?
With inner honesty, that much difference is made in refuge and ego.
That one might say that God made me do it.
When ego increases too much, then there isn't even a chance to say that God made it happen.
Otherwise, if there is still a little ego, as long as it is rising, he says that God is making us do it.
Then God is not remembered.
Only ego is remembered.
If you have seen arrogant people in the present, we haven't gone to see Ravana and them.
But if you see them now, you will know.
You haven't met them yet, so you wouldn't know much.
If you meet them, you will know what they are like.
They consider themselves Ravana, they are modern Ravanas.
They just don't have ten heads.
But their ego is even greater than that.
Nishkulanand Swami wrote that his shadow doesn't bow anywhere.
If the shadow bows, that's why he himself remains stiff, thinking, 'What if the shadow bows?'
So such people do exist.
That ego.
Whatever we do, there is awareness.
Its meaning is not that the refuge is broken.
And carelessness does not mean taking refuge.
Where do we apply it?
When a result comes, do we add it to ego or to God's faith, to refuge? Do we add it there?
That is the basis.
One should definitely remain vigilant.
One should also definitely do the sum.
We do it.
Does it strengthen the refuge or not?
We should definitely do that.
Whether the result comes or not, that should definitely be seen.
