Om Avtarini Shri Swaminarayanaya Namo Namah

Shri Harikrishnaya Namo Namah

Shri Purna Purushottamaya Namo Namah

Shlok number 114 continue. Gunenam gunavattaya gneyam hetat param phalam Krishne bhaktishcha satsango nyathayante vidopyatah.

It is said in Skanda Purana that if the Yamdoots take those who have not done devotion to Lord Shri Hari to Yamapuri at the end of their lives, then what is the fruit of the knowledge and other virtues acquired by those jivas through hard work?

It is said in Padma Purana that if someone has not taken refuge in Lord Vishnu and perhaps has pure qualities like scriptural study, then those qualities without devotion are like ornaments worn by a widow, they do not look good.

The greatness of satsang should be known from the twelfth chapter of the eleventh canto of Shrimad Bhagavatam.

Akroorji has said that the root of devotion is satsang.

I have come to the refuge of your lotus feet, which are rare for the wicked.

Satsang is necessary to generate devotion even in him.

If devotion is not in our heart and we want to generate new devotion, then we should do satsang with a true heart.

Lord has said that in the eleventh canto.

It is said that the glory of satsang has been mentioned.

If one does satsang with a true heart, then devotion to God will surely arise in their heart, even if it wasn't there before.

All other means like dharma, knowledge, and detachment are not necessarily going to generate devotion.

There is no such guarantee.

Not necessary means there is no such guarantee.

It's not necessary that if someone becomes very knowledgeable, they will automatically become a devotee.

It's not necessary that if there is a lot of detachment, devotion will automatically come.

There is no such guarantee.

If someone is very religious, there is no guarantee that devotion will come into their heart.

If it's not in our heart and we want to generate new devotion

If one's soul is drawn to satsang, then there is a guarantee that devotion will come into their heart.

Satsang itself has taken that guarantee.

That if someone uses me, I will put devotion to God in their heart.

Therefore, satsang has more divine power in generating devotion than dharma, knowledge, and detachment. Maharaj has used the word 'daivat' (divine power).

In the tenth Vachanamrut of the Madhya section,

Among knowledge, detachment, and devotion, which means has more divine power in connecting one to God?

Similarly, dharma, knowledge, detachment, and satsang

All of these are called auxiliary means of devotion.

But to generate devotion, to generate new devotion,

If there is nothing in the heart of a jiva, not even a trace of devotion towards God, and one wants to generate it, then one should do satsang.

If one does satsang with a true heart, then satsang has taken such a guarantee that I will generate devotion to God in their heart.

Detachment, dharma, knowledge - none of these can give such a guarantee.

That is the specialty of satsang, so Maharaj has mentioned satsang along with devotion.

That

Without satsang, without devotion and satsang, a jiva attains a lower state, even if they are great.

Even those who know the scriptures attain it.

Swami

This, this

Speak.

In knowledge, in knowledge, the greatness of God comes.

Correct.

If there is greatness, then devotion will happen.

Knowledge brings greatness, but where to connect that greatness, satsang teaches that, and knowledge itself does not teach it.

Shriji Maharaj said in Vachanamrut Antya 32.

That if there is glory, then sometimes, under the guise of glory, sins can also occur.

Glory itself does not guarantee that I will generate devotion.

Based on glory, sin also increases, and devotion also increases.

If sin increases based on glory, that is due to bad company, and if devotion increases based on glory, that is due to satsang.

Satsang alone independently guarantees that I will increase your devotion.

No doubt.

Such knowledge cannot guarantee it.

That is stated in the scriptures.

Maharaj has also said it in the Vachanamrut.

It is the 32nd Vachanamrut of Antya.

In it, Maharaj said that if there is glory,

Even if glory comes from knowledge.

Maharaj has not said that glory comes from knowledge.

Maharaj said that glory comes from satsang.

In the first Vachanamrut, Maharaj, Harji Thakkar asked a question,

That some people do satsang for many days, but even then, they have affection for their body and bodily relations, but they do not have such affection for satsang.

So Maharaj answered that he does satsang.

But the greatness of God, through whom it is understood, such a Satpurush of God, when he talks about his own nature, he takes his fault, and due to that sin, he does not develop affection for God.

So he has knowledge.

But satsang does not fit.

Satsang does not fit, meaning God's

The loving sadhus of God do not fit him.

They do not fit him, which means that his actions do not fit.

His belief does not properly sink in.

He does not even get his virtue.

Maharaj Gunatitanand Swami said that

A diamond does not break for any reason.

But it breaks with the blood of a bedbug.

Similarly, desires are not going to disappear at any time.

But if he gets the virtue of a Satpurush.

He likes his actions.

And in that, he develops affection for his personality.

Then the desire, which is ages old,

It gets destroyed.

Gunatitanand Swami said that desire is not roasted in the wood of a pyre.

It is not roasted in the fire of the time of dissolution.

It is not roasted in the fire of the time of great dissolution.

It is not roasted in the fire of the digestive system.

There is only one thing to give it heat.

To adopt the virtues of desireless devotees.

If you take the qualities of a worldly person, then those qualities will also come back, so you have to say desireless.

That if there are such unique, desireless devotees of God, and one adopts their virtues, then they benefit greatly.

And Maharaj says that desire, like the husk of a tamarind, gets uprooted and falls off separately.

So, even though knowledge is a means, Maharaj, nor the scriptures, nor the Bhagavat, have anywhere expounded upon it.

Knowing

It is written as 'agnatva'.

In the eleventh canto, Lord Shri Krishna has written 'gnatva agnatva'.

Whether one knows or does not know, whether one knows the glory or does not know.

Even then, if one connects with God, if one connects with devotion, then one's life is fulfilled, one crosses over.

That is why such a specialty has been mentioned.

Dharma, knowledge, detachment, and satsang are all auxiliary means of devotion.

Dharma, knowledge, and detachment also undoubtedly help in devotion to God.

It depends on the jiva who wants to use it meaningfully.

My detachment, whether I use it to earn my bread or to increase devotion, depends on me.

The car's steering wheel, which way the car goes, depends on the driver.

Which way to drive it and which way not to drive it, that's how it is. And the steering of satsang is not in one's own hands. The steering of satsang is in the hands of the Satpurush, who will make it happen.

All those are inanimate means, and satsang is a conscious means.

So we don't have to give it guidance.

We don't have to drive it.

And all those are inanimate means.

Dharma, knowledge, and detachment, even though they are all virtuous, they do not have consciousness themselves, they do not have the consciousness to say, 'This one has gone astray here, so take him here.'

It's not like that.

That is why satsang has been given priority.

In the large Shikshapatri, in the small commentary here, many incidents from the Bhagavat are written.

The shlokas that are written, 'namam rodhayati yogo'.

Those shlokas about the glory of satsang are written in a very fine type.

It's a matter.

Swami ji

Yes, speak.

Swami lives in satsang, and sometimes the Satpurush's virtues appear, and sometimes his flaws appear. What is the reason for that?

Maharaj told us that if we are praised, we gain virtues, and if we are not praised, we gain virtues.

Maharaj said the same thing in the first Vachanamrut, didn't he?

When a sadhu talks about his own nature, he does not take that talk favorably and takes it as a fault, and because of that sin, he does not develop affection for satsang.

And even if it is difficult for us to accept virtues, then also, Maharaj has said in the first Vachanamrut that one develops affection for satsang.

What?

Maharaj said in the tenth Vachanamrut of the Madhya section that there is more divinity in devotion.

He also spoke similarly about detachment.

Divinity is greater in devotion than in knowledge and detachment.

Yes.

Regarding detachment, Maharaj said that one should consider everything other than the murti of God as worthless.

And in devotion, it is said that Lakshmiji

The focus of detachment is on breaking the world.

The focus of detachment is not on God.

If a person is detached, the focus of detachment means the focus of a detached person.

Its focus is on how to make the world wrong.

The focus of detachment is not on God.

God gave such a definition of detachment.

Maharaj said this by making a slight change from the definition of detachment that was coming from the tradition of the scriptures.

He has modified it.

It's a matter.

But even then, if there is only detachment, its focus is on how to make the world wrong.

It is not about how to connect with God.

The focus of satsang is how to connect with God by making the world wrong.

That is the greater specialty of satsang.

That he connects with God, but if he is also attached to something else, he won't be able to remain connected there, so he will make it wrong himself.

Because it is a conscious means.

Like that.

Those are the questions.

Gnan Swami's question is that

Many proofs and characteristics of devotion have been described in this Shikshapatri Bhashya.

Yet, ordinary seekers can understand and grasp it in their minds.

Who is called a devotee with such devotion?

What are the characteristics of such devotion, by which that devotion becomes successful and one attains salvation?

Why? Because many read scriptures and Puranas, expound on devotion, perform penance, and practice spiritual disciplines.

And what God told Prahlad, even if one possesses the twelve virtues, they may not be a true devotee.

So how are ordinary seekers recognized and how should they be recognized?

Swami has asked this question so that we can understand, so that a common person can understand, how everyone can comprehend it.

So, first, Naradji gave a very straightforward definition of bhakti.

Complete dedication of all actions to Him, forgetting everything else, and experiencing extreme anguish in His separation.

So, when there is complete dedication, that is called bhakti.

Tadarpitata means

We have often discussed this in great detail, haven't we?

That it is for God.

If we are householders and come for darshan,

we bring some bananas from the market and place them before God.

So, it is offered, or dedication, surrender.

Surrender should be for God; surrender should not be for anything else.

Surrender should be to God, in God's work, in God's mission.

Then that is called devotion.

Further, Maharaj spoke and wrote verses in which Arjuna, Radhaji, Lakshmidevi, and Arjuna, all three, are connected with God.

It is said that when Radhaji is present, it is Radha-Krishna; when Lakshmidevi is present, it is Lakshmi-Narayan; and when Arjuna is present, it is Nara-Narayan.

So, Arjuna was dedicated to God's mission.

That is, it is said to be for Shri Krishna, but it was used to accomplish God's mission.

Lakshmiji was an example of maryada bhakti (devotion with rules).

Rukminiji.

And Radhaji was an example of prema-lakshana bhakti (devotion characterized by love).

So, all three, all three, it means that in all three ways, there is surrender to God.

Maharaj has said in the Vachanamrut that even if one obeys God's commands, they establish a relationship with God.

That one who is endowed with the five vows has a direct relationship with God, therefore, if they love God according to His guidance, or believe in God, it will be correct.

Maharaj has said this in one place in the Vachanamrut.

There is surrender.

That is an internal matter.

External actions are often all the same.

We have talked about the three types of surrender.

Where is surrender an internal thing?

If one brings and places this object, then it is the surrender of that object.

One who does not have material possessions.

They surrender by performing actions.

They serve God.

They serve God's devotees.

We have sadhus and mahatmas, so where have we surrendered wealth and property?

But we have surrendered our entire life.

Even if one surrenders their life, the sentiment may still be lacking.

It is known.

Suppose we toil like an ox our entire lives.

And we have talked about it many times.

There was Nayan Bhagat and there were other devotees.

So, the burp that Nayan Bhagat got at the end of his life, others who were like him, they all dedicated their entire lives, but they got very sour burps.

That we toiled like an ox and gained nothing.

So, surrender happens with emotion.

That I belong to God, and I want to do something for God, not for myself.

The feeling that I want to do it to please God, that is surrender.

We say that Bhishma Pitamah was lying on a bed of arrows.

And for the satisfaction of Yudhishthira Maharaj, the entire group of Pandavas went.

And Lord Shri Krishna said, "Explain this to him."

Explain to Yudhishthira Maharaj.

So Bhishma Pitamah

So, first, he was a devotee of Lord Krishna, wasn't he, of Lord Krishna.

So, he wanted to bow to him, but his hand couldn't move.

He couldn't move his hands.

So, he honored God with his gaze from his face.

That is called bhavana.

He had no action, he had no material things, and yet he honored God.

Even if there is nothing, the honor comes from the heart.

However, that is called devotion.

If there is only action, Duryodhana said that 56 dishes are ready for you, but there were all actions, there were material things, but he had no bhavana.

Compared to that, Vidurji had no material things.

But he had bhavana, so God went there.

So, bhavana, action, and material things, all three are offered.

If the bhavana is less or more, but if I offer material things and offer actions, then if he has the desire, bhavana comes.

Based on material things, bhavana becomes very fertile.

If we go to God to have darshan and don't take any material things, like an apple or a banana, and then we plead with God, he won't be satisfied in his heart.

Someone inside says that you are wrong, you are wrong.

You are completely empty, not wrong, but empty, empty, that's what he says.

So, there is no such surrender of bhavana.

So, that means bhavana

first

number one

then action and then material things.

The more surrender there is, the more devotion it is called.

A clear account.

Like one plus one equals two.

So much surrender happens that there is nothing left for him to surrender.

King Bali gave it to God.

And God, to test him again, said, "Now bring it."

This is only one step.

He took the whole universe in two steps.

Now bring the third step.

Otherwise, you will fall into hell, he said.

So he says, 'You will fall into hell, bring it.'

So then King Bali found a solution and said that everything he had to give has been given.

Now I only have my body, so put your foot on my body.

So God put his foot on him and threw him into the netherworld.

But still, he did not waver.

So that is called the ultimate limit.

It is called the ultimate limit of surrender.

That there is nothing left, what should I do if I want to do something now?

Whatever had to be done, he surrendered everything.

That is called the ultimate limit.

That is called the completion of devotion.

And bringing one banana and offering it is called the beginning.

Both are called devotion.

This is the beginning, and that is the completion.

Thus

So, if some ordinary surrender to God is seen, then whether it is small or big.

Small or big, whatever kind of surrender it is.

Then it is called devotion, it's a straightforward calculation.

And there is a second part to the question.

It says that many times, there are such great people.

It happens that they may be doing devotion, but there is no devotion in them, as Prahlada said.

That if there is a Brahmin endowed with twelve qualities and he does not have devotion to God.

Then I consider a Svapacha superior to him, a Svapacha is superior.

So it is like this.

It's not always the case that big people have great devotion and small people have little devotion.

You can't measure it, can you?

Maharaj said that big people have great devotion and small people have little devotion.

That the poor Bhatta gave four annas to Maharaj.

Maharaj started tossing it around, saying it was very good.

Today, the kalash of our Gopinath Maharaj are complete.

What to do?

He had sold his copper pot, which he used to beg for flour, and given it.

So he had given everything.

Everything.

But and all the big ones

If there are rich people, they would have given it and pleased Maharaj.

But not everything, so Maharaj said, "I am more pleased."

And if they give everything, the big question is, where would a sadhu put it?

He said to Henan, "Maharaj did that in Kariyani, didn't he?"

Those Kala Makwanas were great devotees of Maharaj, and they were poor, their business was weak, so they said, "Maharaj, this is happening, this is happening."

Maharaj was in a good mood somewhere.

Do you have anything?

That is, a tool of iron.

There will be no iron tool.

There was a kos (a measure of distance), and Maharaj said, "This is a kos."

Bring it.

Maharaj threw it, and it turned into gold.

Take it.

And that small village went to the goldsmith.

He said, "I have money like this."

The goldsmith said, "You take it, take it away."

It's called dangerous, it's called a risk to life, where would I keep it? So he had a problem, and he couldn't keep it at home, because there was a fear of thieves at home. So he went to Maharaj, and then he couldn't go to work with that kos.

Maharaj, this was gold, so please turn it back.

So my daily wages can continue.

So the big question is, if big people don't give it, where do they put it?

Everything is equal, so everything runs smoothly.

Everything is like that, it's all properly arranged.

Night Bhagat used to say that everything is going well.

It is such that whoever surrenders, that is called bhakti.

Small, big, more.

There are three divisions of surrender.

Action,

substance

and emotion.

Emotion is primary.

Emotion is not visible externally, but it is self-perceptible.

It happens based on the object.

It happens based on the action.

Everyone has the same, if there is no emotion, then the object and action are surrender.

That's when such a tragedy happens.

As Prahlada said.

That many times I used to say that

For example, during the Mahabharata, Karna's charity, Karna was a great donor, and King Bali was in Satya Yuga, he was a great donor.

But there was a difference between Karna's generosity and King Bali's generosity.

Karna had taken a vow of charity.

And to please Duryodhana.

Duryodhana and the Kaurava team, when the Pandavas went to the forest, to tease them,

let's all go there.

And he also told the brothers and people to wear their ornaments properly.

And we go there.

And where the Pandavas lived, they were poor, wearing bark clothes.

And if Draupadi and Kuntaji are all there, and we all go there with pomp and show, then they will be a little teased.

So they went there to tease them.

There was a quarrel with Chitraratha Gandharva somewhere.

And the Gandharva beat him a lot.

And they tied their hands behind their backs and took them crookedly to their camp.

Crookedly.

Their hands were tied behind their backs.

Like a donkey.

It cannot be said like a horse.

But they made everyone donkeys and took them away.

And one of them escaped and realized that Maharaj Yudhishthira is here.

He lives in his place.

So they ran.

So Maharaj Yudhishthira told Arjuna and Bhima, "Go quickly and release him immediately."

But Bhima said, "I'll go after a while."

He was obedient.

Yudhishthira said, "Don't you hear? Go!"

So Chitraratha Gandharva was Arjuna's best friend.

Arjuna had defeated him.

So he was a great friend.

So Arjuna and Bhima both went.

So Chitraratha, though a Gandharva, gave him a lot of respect.

So he gave him a lot of respect and said, "Welcome, welcome."

He said, "Welcome, welcome," but he came to release him.

We have come.

Maharaj is not worth releasing him.

Bhima says, "Brother, he is speaking the truth."

That it's not worth leaving. No, no, it's my elder brother's command.

And we will only leave from here after that.

Leave him free for now.

So, he let Duryodhana and everyone else go, they barely left.

There was no way to show their faces to their wives. If they had to pull their faces up to their wives, they had made all these plans, but nothing like that remained.

So then he said, "Let's go, it didn't turn out very well today, the party's weather isn't good."

So the party didn't go well.

But Duryodhana became very upset in his mind.

So in his mind, he thought, "What should I do now?"

He couldn't find peace in any way.

So Karna planned that we should perform a Rajasuya Yagna for Duryodhana now.

But the Brahmins refused.

The Brahmins said that this is very good in the Mahabharata. The Brahmin said well that as long as Yudhishthira Maharaja is there, you cannot perform a Rajasuya.

So then he performed another yagna, an alternative to the Rajasuya yagna.

And in that yagna, he spent a lot of money.

And he performed a good yagna, and then to please Duryodhana, Karna took three vows.

That I will never in my life let anyone worship my feet.

This is very difficult to maintain.

It's very difficult for us.

We would secretly let them worship us.

That's fine, just wash and worship, so that dust and dirt don't come much.

So he said, "I will not let anyone worship my feet."

That was his penance.

So I take such a vow.

And he took another vow that if anyone asks me for anything, I will give it as a donation.

To please Duryodhana.

It is written in the Mahabharata that he made three demonic vows.

Until I kill Arjuna, these three vows of mine will continue.

Until I kill Arjuna, this vow of mine will continue.

And he couldn't kill Arjuna.

And he himself died, so as he was dying, God tested him.

Karna was lying on the battlefield, so God went there disguised as a poor Brahmin.

That I want to marry my daughter.

And he wants it.

Because I don't have anything right now.

But do one thing, I can't bear to let a Brahmin go back empty-handed from me.

But there are golden lines in my teeth, so you can take them out.

So how to take it out, he said,

He said, "Take it, I'm going to die anyway."

But if I take it out, then those Brahmins are firm, God himself went as a Brahmin.

So he said, "Now it's considered that I did labor."

So he said, "It's not considered a donation."

So Karna said, "Bring that stone here, bring it to me."

So he said, "That's also considered labor."

So then Karna dragged himself and gave the donation.

God wanted to show Arjuna, "Look."

The quality is like this.

So Arjuna, Karna gave the donation, but the purpose of the donation was this.

To kill Arjuna and to please Duryodhana.

All of Duryodhana's friends were like that.

Drona, that brother Ashwatthama, he killed the sons of the Pandavas and took their heads to Duryodhana, saying, "Give salvation to your soul."

So all these friends, his whole circle was like that.

And it was like that.

So Duryodhana used to perform many religious acts, but only to overshadow Yudhishthira.

Any good deeds cannot guarantee devotion.

He cannot neglect it, nor can he prove that there is no devotion in him.

Only when emotion is mixed in it, does it become a guarantee of devotion.

Duryodhana's intention was different, Karna's intention was different.

Behind giving donations, Bali Maharaja's intention was different.

Bali Maharaja was born in the demon clan.

And Shukracharya refused.

No, no, Maharaj, don't give him anything.

This is a deceitful Vishnu.

So King Bali took a step forward and said, "No, no, no."

If it's Vishnu, then it's a curse.

This is about my grandfather.

His grandfather was Prahlad, right?

So, if my ancestors are ashamed, then it's a curse.

If I don't make a vow, then it's fine, you do it.

I will give it to him.

And he gave it.

So, King Bali's donation was different, and Karna's donation was different, but both donations were the same.

So sometimes, when a person's intention is different, there are superficial acts of devotion; a person might be performing bhakti, performing yagna, giving donations, performing rituals, performing penance, or narrating stories.

These are all means for livelihood.

Why was Duryodhana doing it?

So that my brand grows.

My value increases, people.

If we go to Haridwar now, there are ashrams of sanyasis there.

Sanyasis are not idol worshippers, but all of them have installed Lakshminarayan Dev and are sitting there.

Why?

It's related to livelihood.

If people don't have Thakorji and don't have an idol, no one will offer money.

If they chant Om Om, no one will just offer it and leave.

So, while chanting Om Om, they install Lakshminarayan Dev.

So, all this is a tragedy.

Tragedy means he has to do it.

So, if we become sadhus and don't narrate stories properly, then first of all, our livelihood won't be proper.

So, even to make a proper livelihood, people have to rely on good deeds.

One has to rely on the actions of devotion.

This happens.

That's why Prahladji said that if there is no devotion and one does this.

Then he does not attain liberation.

His soul does not attain salvation.

If there is devotion, then actions follow.

It's a very big story.

As we did in the Bhakti Sutra.

That there is devotion but no action.

So, is that devotion or not?

Then it cannot be said.

If there is a feeling in his heart, then some action must come.

But just because action has come, it cannot be definitively said that there is a feeling.

Just because action has come, it cannot be definitively said that there is a feeling.

If there is a feeling, then action must come.

So, in devotion, there is a bit of this.

That's why, when ordinary surrender is seen, whether it's deep surrender, or ordinary surrender, or superficial surrender.

Based on that, ordinary people can know whether there is devotion or not.

And sometimes, even if there are all these acts of surrender, it is possible that there is no devotion.

Karna and Duryodhana, all of them appear in Kirata, in Kiratarjun.

Duryodhana used to give donations, offerings, yagnas, and Brahmins with a very generous hand.

But that was the only thing, there was only one point.

That Yudhishthira should become dim.

That's why.

He performs yagna.

He gives donations.

He takes care of people.

But solely and only to overshadow Yudhishthira.

Not to please Krishna.

And Arjuna's and Yudhishthira's actions were to please Krishna.

He performed a yagna.

So what did he say?

That I want to worship you through yagna.

He took Krishna's advice.

I want to worship you by performing yagna.

And if Duryodhana had performed a yagna, he would have expelled Shri Krishna.

So, it happens based on that.

From this history, the identity becomes clear.

Huh?

It is recognized from history.

But in the present time, only those with devotion are recognized, or those who have a desire for devotion are recognized, others are not recognized by themselves.

So, a devotee recognizes another devotee, that's true.

If there is a feeling in one's own heart, then one recognizes the feeling of the other.

As for historical stories, what can be said about living history?

That, brother, you

You perform many actions, but you are not a devotee, are you?

That cannot be said, can it?

So, historical narratives are for that reason.

That one should not directly tell anyone about indirect arguments or Vedas.

One should give indirect examples, there was a king and there was a sage.

The king was like this, and the sage was the opposite, even if he was like Durvasa.

One cannot tell a sage who is sitting directly that he is the opposite.

He understands that a little bit of Durvasa's nature comes into us.

Then it is considered a good thing.

Swamiji, when one performs any action or service, sometimes the feeling is not there. So what should one keep in mind so that the feeling of pleasing remains?

Look, when one is performing service or an action, sometimes the remembrance to please remains, and sometimes it doesn't.

So what should we keep in mind so that the remembrance to always please remains?

One should pay more attention.

Sometimes it remains.

One should pay more attention and keep in mind the remembrance than what sometimes remains.

That in every action, if we perform ten actions and it remains in five and not in five.

Then from now on, we should decide that we will keep it in six, and if it gets canceled in four, it's fine.

And if it remains in six, then one should do it in such a way that now it should be kept in hand.

One should keep such a remembrance.

Do more.

Remembrance at the beginning or then

Continue the process.

Should the remembrance be kept at the beginning or during the ongoing action?

Anytime.

As much as it remains, that much.

Keep it.

Akroorji has said that the root of devotion is satsang.

I have come to the refuge of your lotus feet, which are rare for the wicked.

I believe that even he has your grace.

O Padmanabha, when the time comes for the liberation of this jiva, then only through the service of saintly persons does the mind's inclination connect with your form.

Dungarji Maharaj used to say this naturally.

Dungarji Maharaj used to say that one who is going to have his last birth.

And one who, as soon as this birth ends, is immediately going to the abode of God, the devotee of God.

What is his sign?

Then he naturally develops affection for the true sadhus of God.

Not out of selfishness or pride.

His heart is directly drawn to it, that it is drawn to that.

Natural affection arises.

Even in performing devotion to God, a natural inclination arises.

Then it's not for any reason, not because someone praises it.

Not out of imitation.

But in his heart, he feels that, 'Mother, I should do something like this.'

Such a causeless event occurs.

It is called 'ahetukim bhaktim', isn't it?

They perform causeless devotion.

In the Gita, God said that there are four types of devotees.

The distressed, the inquisitive, the seeker of wealth, and the wise, O best among Bharatas.

Among them, the wise, always united, is distinguished by devotion.

In that, the wise one has causeless devotion.

If one is distressed, then they pray to God until their suffering is gone, and then they forget once the suffering is gone.

If one needs something, they pray until they get a job, and once they get a job, they completely forget.

So, if all this is there, it cannot be called causeless.

And that, for some reason, is causeless.

He develops affection for God without any reason.

He develops affection for devotion to God.

Then he should believe that we have reached the shore.

If we pay a little attention, we will cross over.

If one pays a little attention, they will cross over.

So, causeless affection arises.

Causeless affection arises in satsang.

In performing devotion to God, there should be causeless affection for God.

If someone praises me, I will do even more.

And if there is no one to praise, I will leave the broom and run away.

Then it won't be very green.

Then it will be good.

It doesn't become completely green.

This reason is that it happens due to past samskaras.

That's why it is said, Maharaj, that devotion is attained by a devotee to God through the samskaras of many births; otherwise, it doesn't happen quickly.

These are all means. God says, if I am pleased, I will give liberation, but I will not give devotion.

By giving devotion, I would be putting a noose around my own feet, wouldn't I?

He gives devotion, and when he gives devotion, the devotee becomes bound to God.

Then I would put a noose around my own feet, so I don't give devotion to anyone.

It is said that devotion gives satsang.

God himself does not give it.

If God is pleased, he says, "Go, be liberated. You are free now."

You don't have to do anything else.

And satsang gives devotion.

If the holy men of God are pleased, then they feel that if they want to call, they say that you will have devotion.

Devotion to God happens.

So God also does not give devotion. Devotion is given only by the devotees of God. If they are true, they give it.

So that is its specialty.

O Padmanabha, when the time comes for the liberation of this jiva, then only through the service of saintly persons does the mind's inclination connect with your form.

Muchukunda Naradji had natural devotion.

When he was young, Naradji wrote his own narrative, didn't he?

That I don't go to play.

I serve the sadhus.

I bring firewood.

I wash the dishes.

I sweep the courtyard.

I do such service.

And if I become free, I sit in the katha.

But I didn't have the habit of playing much or talking much, like us.

Meaning, I didn't have such a habit.

So all that

It was a natural sign that it was his last birth.

So if there is such a natural affection, then that is its meaning.

If it's not natural, then it should be done that way.

It's not like everyone naturally has it.

But this is a sign.

King Muchukunda has said that

O Achyuta, when the time comes for the liberation of a jiva wandering in this forest of worldly existence, only then does he attain the company of a Satpurush.

He gets it unexpectedly.

While wandering, he finds it unexpectedly.

When the yoga happened, he should think that this is his last birth.

And if he takes advantage of it and makes a little effort, then his last birth will be over.

If he doesn't make any effort, then it won't happen again.

King Muchukunda has said, "O Achyuta, when the time comes for the liberation of a jiva wandering in this forest of worldly existence, only then does he attain the company of a Satpurush."

And when he engages in satsang, his intellect becomes steady in your form, which is the sole master of all worlds and the very essence of the Satpurushas.

The Prachetas have said that it is only by a moment's satsang with your dear friend, Lord Shankar, that we have had your darshan today.

You are the supreme physician for the incurable disease of birth and death.

Now we are in your ashram.

Without satsang, devotion does not arise; Prahladji has said this.

Whose intellect touches the lotus feet of God, the complete destruction of the calamity of his birth and death occurs.

But as long as people do not place the dust of the feet of the selfless, God-loving great souls on their heads, their intellect cannot attain the feet of God.

That verse is very good.

It is in there.

Naiṣā mati stāvad uru kramāṅghri spṛśatyanarthāpa gamo yadarthaḥ mahīyasām pāda rajobhiṣekam niṣkiñcanānām na vṛṇīta yāvat.

As long as one does not choose the dust of the feet of the selfless.

As long as one does not choose the dust of the feet of such selfless, exclusive devotees of God.

It's not that he doesn't put it on his head.

We usually do this with our heads, don't we?

Many people do this when they bow down.

It's like he swallowed a pill, he doesn't move his head at all.

So, Nishkinchananam Padarajobhishekam.

Prahladji said that Prahladji must be a true devotee, so all his words are miraculous.

That until he chooses his feet, he cannot cross the ocean of worldly existence.

Until then, he does not cross the ocean of worldly existence.

There is a difference between choosing and putting on one's head.

Huh?

To choose the dust of the feet means

It means to have attachment to it.

To choose means to have attachment to it.

Lakshmiji chose God, so God did not have attachment to any of these, but only to God.

That is the meaning of choosing.

There is a difference between putting on one's head and choosing.

Hey

To have attachment to it from the heart.

Shastriji Maharaj is talking, right?

That Narayan Das Swami was going on a pilgrimage, there is an incident in a train somewhere, Swami used to say that Vaishnav train in a cart, huh?

He was climbing into the cart.

Not in a cart, in a train, in a train, in a train.

In the cart, that is the incident of Gunatitanand Swami.

There was a sadhu, it was monsoon time, and Gunatitanand Swami wanted to go out, so he was preparing to sit in a cart.

His feet would remain wet, and the saints would not wear sandals then, Swami would not make him wear them.

So that sadhu had a connection.

So Swami put his foot on the step of the cart and stood there.

So he lifted his leg, and then he wiped it with that sheet.

Quickly.

So Swami didn't like that, so Swami kicked him.

So he fell down, sat down like this.

So he kicked him, and then when he took the other foot, he immediately sat up and wiped it.

So that is called Padarajam Vrunit, Vrunit.

How much affection he must have for him.

And Shastriji Maharaj used to say that Narayan Das Swami thought in his mind that he should touch his tongue to it.

I will touch my tongue to the sole of his foot.

And then there is difficulty in touching the tongue, right?

One should be discreet, right?

Otherwise, Gunatitanand Swami said that he kicked him.

He wouldn't like it.

He shouldn't know that I touched my tongue, he says.

So that is called Yavata Navrunita Padarajobhishekam.

He does not choose the dust of his feet, he does not do that from his heart.

Until then, he does not attain its end, Prahlad said.

Prahlad said.

Now, where do we go to lick every day, it's endless.

And otherwise, if they sit with their legs stretched out, nothing happens even if they lick.

Kul kulaha punantu punantu punantu.

Nothing happens in that again.

Now

Swami, there is an online question.

This is a question from Deep Deep Patel.

That if one performs bhajan bhakti well and also has affection for good sadhus.

But when a person lies in business dealings due to selfishness and betrays someone's trust, should such a person be considered a devotee or not?

Did you understand or not?

What?

Of God

There is affection for the true saint.

They are good devotees.

They perform devotion.

But if they betray or cheat others in business, should they be considered devotees or not?

Whether to consider them devotees or not is in God's hands.

But he has affection for good sadhus, and he will get the fruit of that.

He has affection for good sadhus, and he will get the fruit of that.

So that doesn't mean that if he has affection for good sadhus, that thing will go away today itself.

So he will also get the fruit of what he does.

And he has affection for good sadhus, and he will also get the fruit of that.

There is some person

He earns a thousand rupees and spends five hundred rupees in the market, so both things happen, five hundred rupees go, and a thousand rupees come into his pocket. He has affection for good sadhus, so he will get the fruit of that, and he does wrong, so he will also get the fruit of that.

Now

Whose

The intellect that touches the lotus feet of God completely destroys the misfortune of birth and death.

But those who have selfless divine love

Just as long as one does not apply the dust from the feet of great saints to their forehead, their intellect cannot attain the feet of God.

If there is no satsang and devotion to God, it does not stick to the feet of God. Even if they have met Him,

even then, it does not stick to the feet of God.

If there is no satsang and devotion to God, if there is no such knowledge,

if there is no satsang and devotion to God, if there is no such knowledge, or even if there is knowledge, but there is some attachment or bondage to other things, then even scholars who have studied the Vedas and other scriptures attain a lower state.

Satsang, as it is said in the end, otherwise, even the learned ones...

Otherwise, otherwise means if there is no such knowledge, no such devotion, no such thing,

and there are many virtues,

there are many educated people,

even then, they attain a lower state, it is said.

By studying the scriptures, there was a question somewhere yesterday, wasn't there, that by studying the scriptures, brother,

It was Satsang Swami's question, wasn't it, that by studying the scriptures, if the glory is mentioned in the scriptures, then that glory is of no use to him.

But that's not the case.

When one wants to study the scriptures, just as one performs a yagna, at the beginning of the yagna, one makes a resolve that "I am performing this yagna for the attainment of a son."

Or, "I am performing this yagna for the attainment of heaven."

Or, "I am performing this yagna for the attainment of prosperity."

After that, all the rituals of the yagna are the same.

There is no difference in anything else.

The only difference is in the initial resolve.

Similarly, when he sits down to study, he already has such a 'dodo' (ulterior motive) in his mind.

It's called a desire, isn't it?

It's bad, but he has a 'dodo'.

that I will narrate a very good story, better than everyone else, and make everyone fall flat.

So if he has such a 'dodo', he will only get 'dodo'. He won't get anything else from the katha. He will keep eating 'doda'.

He roasts and eats it, so no problem.

So nothing else happens from that.

So, whether he performs a katha or other yagnas,

but inside, a person has a hidden agenda.

There is a hidden, silent intention.

And a silent intention, the priest doesn't tell us, "Come on, Maharaj, make a resolve."

Om Bhur Bhuvah Swah

He says all that, Vishnu, Vishnu, Vishnu.

I do it five or seven times, Vishnu, Vishnu, but then we don't say that I have a resolve.

Only Karna told Duryodhana that he made such a vow for this reason.

So Vyas Bhagwan wrote it in the Bhagavat. Vyas Bhagwan knows what is in his mind, doesn't he?

But these people are not told that I am doing this to fulfill my 'dodo'.

I am narrating a story, or I am studying, or I am studying this Vedanta, or that, to fulfill my 'dodo'. But the 'dodo' has already grown in his mind.

What happens here is that when corn is planted, the 'bodo dodo' (corn cob) comes only after it is planted.

And here, inside, the 'dodo' comes first, and then the corn comes.

So, first, a person performs some auspicious act to fulfill that 'dodo'.

So, the 'dodo' has already come first.

So, no matter how many scriptures he studies and how much glory he knows,

even then, he does not experience the glory of God.

Because that 'dodo' was already there from the beginning, wasn't it?

Similarly, before every auspicious act, a person has some such 'dodo'.

that I will do this,

I will read the katha better than everyone else.

then my influence will be established.

And all those who are sitting in the katha should fall unconscious within three hours.

Then I go and make them sit up, saying, "No, now you stand up," and only then should they stand up.

If he has such a 'dodo', then even if he performs a katha, devotion will not come.

Even if he donates, devotion will not come.

If he does that,

many had a bad 'dodo'.

that if there is an occasion for donation, then our name should be there, the first chair should be ours.

I want that.

So, at the beginning of an action, there is an 'utthana' (ulterior motive) in a person's heart.

Maharaj identified it as 'utthana' and said.

There is 'utthana'.

that I am doing this work, so my calculation is like this.

It happens based on that.

Then the fruit does not happen based on the action.

The yagna is the same. If he resolves that he wants a son, then a son will be born.

If I want heaven, I will get heaven. Then I will not get both things.

And in that, if I don't want anything from God and I want to please God, then I get that, then I get both things.

God is such that he gives both things.

But if he is too stubborn, he won't give.

So much so that I have to complete so many stubborn tasks.

And he keeps doing new things again, so.

It's finished, how much is left?

Victory to Sahajanand Swami Maharaj!
